Simpson does u-turn and tries to sign Foster

Despite only yesterday saying that he doesn't plan to sign anyone else during the pre-season, Gary Simpson has done a u-turn and confirmed that Luke Foster has now been offered a contract with the Imps.

Foster was initially signed by Keith Alexander following his release from Sheffield Wednesday in 2005. He won many fans during his first season at the club, that despite not being a regular in the first team, before not featuring under the regime of Schofield and Deehan. He subsequently went on to play for Stalybridge, Oxford, Mansfield, Stevenage and Preston before being released from Deepdale at the end of last season.

He joined in pre-season games with the Imps and has largely impressed, and despite saying yesterday that he wouldn't be signing any more players, Gary Simpson has now confirmed that he has offered a deal to Foster. Despite this, it again all appears to come down to finances.

"The kid wants to join us," Simpson told the Lincolnshire Echo. "And we told him what our offer is.

We discussed what we can offer, and it might not be what he wants, but that's life. If it doesn't happen I've been keeping track of other players who have been on trial with Football League clubs and have missed out, so I've had one or two others in touch. However, things are coming together and I've got no intention of taking on any other trialists now."

If he does sign, Foster will be the second trialist to join the Imps this summer after Bohan Dixon's impressive display against Lincoln United was enough to see him be offered a deal.

Would be a good signing, we need him and a couple more at the back, we can't last the season with 5 defenders and defensive midfielders covering, its pure folly to think we can.
Amazed that another Lincoln manager appears to have a blind spot to the backline.

Here we go again!
Will we ever get the right man?
