Where the FA Cup money went, Chris Herd and Norwich City

In a fans forum based in Sleaford, Steff Wright revealed the much debated destination of the money gained from the FA Cup run. Also discussed were the chances of keeping Chris Herd and Sutton also confirming that the Imps' first confirmed friendly of the pre-season will be against Norwich City.

Earlier in the season it was confirmed that any profits (the key word) made from cup runs would go towards Chris Sutton's budget. Many fans thought that automatically meant that ALL money made from the cup runs would go towards the budget, however, that was not the case at all.

Wright stated that at the beginning of the season, they budget for exits in all of the first rounds in the cup competitions, and that we actually made a loss in the cup games against Barnsley and Darlington, and the profits made from the FA Cup run first made us for the losses in those competitions, then going to Sutton.

Transfers were brought up and Sutton confirmed he would love to keep Herd, but admitted that it is beyond his control as he believes Herd wants to try and force his way into the first team at Aston Villa, it was also the same case with Fulham's Saunders. Sutton also seemed very keen on bringing Lennon to Sincil Bank permanently.

Whilst Sutton believes that a youth system is vital to the club's future, when asked about why there were no youth team players in the first team, he simply replied with "None of them are good enough." Infact, the ONLY youth player he mentioned by name was Hutchinson, whom has spent the majority of the last few months injured.

A deal to secure access through the fire station is close according to Steff, whom also said that he has no intention to move Lincoln out of the city due to the fact that it doesn't guarantee anything at all. He believes that Sincil Bank is a decent enough ground and once the access issue is confirmed as being over, the work to improve the ground properly could start to become reality.

The only other noteworthy mention during the night was the confirmation that the Imps would be playing Norwich City in the pre-season, although a date was not revealed.
