We need goals.....Sutton brings in Broughton....oh dear!

Lincoln City's attempts to get a goalscorer to join have taken a strange turn with the signing of Drewe Broughton. The striker is about as far from a prolific striker as you're likely to get in this division and is yet another example that Sutton has no clue when it comes to bringing strikers into this club.
The striker is well known amongst League Two fans as having the best agent in football. In 444 appearances in professional football, Broughton has scored 93 goals. If that's not worrying enough, a lot of clubs he has played for have ended up getting relegated soon thereafter. Peterborough, Kidderminster, Rushden, Chester, Boston and Wrexham have all been relegated either whilst Broughton was at their club, or soon afterwards.
Broughton is expected to go straight into the starting line up against Accrington for what now looks guaranteed to be another blank.
A goal every 4 games is not that bad in reality.
How many players this season have a better rate than that.
Emile Heskey will go to the World Cup with a worse rate, but could prove a very valuable player.
People slating this signing can not understand football is a team game. He is not a long term solution, he is what he is and could earn us some points in the next month even if from the bench. He will also help us defending corners.
I am not excited, but I can see the reasons.
Saunders however is a great signing and will play 90 minutes every week if fit.
It does my tree in........who else could we have realistically signed?
Who wants to let a good striker that scores goals leave as the season starts to pan out? Most clubs are either fighting for their lives or pushing for promotion so are they going to let a good goalscorer leave? Of course not!! That would have been like us letting Yeo go out on loan when he has scored 15+ goals in a season.....
I think Broughton will bring some muscle and the ability to hold up the play for us, hopefully bring the likes of Gilmour, Herd and Hugton into play to score goals.
Please judge Mr Sutton on the first day of the 2010/11 season in terms of his strikers, you are only going to be able to pick them up in the summer.

Good post Stratford.. I hope he can find a good partnership here & get some much needed goals...
I think Stratford has got a point but the worry is that whoever starts up front next season might be doing it against Ebbsfleet in the BSP. I still think this is a rubbish signing the inns and outs of it we will never know. I cannot believe Sutton thinks Broughton is the answer I think its more to do with the board than him. Lets hope Drew prooves me wrong for the sake of us all.
I think Sutton is probably at his wits end.....he inherited Jamie Clarke, Chris Fagan, Rene Howe, Paul Connor, LJL and the 2 young lads. He had to ship them out before really bringing anyone in. Howe clearly has attitude issues and I am sure Gillingham will find that out too. He hardly set the world alight did he? Connor's injurues have hampered him, LJL is better than when CS took over!!?? Fagan and Clarke were never going to make it so all in all he has had a mare with strikers. Watts, Anderson, Herd, Lichaj and Saunders show that he has an eye for talent so cut him some slck and lets see what he can find in the summer.
Cambridge - I will be amazed if we are relegated, having said that I was amazed last time we went into GMVC!!! But I am confident that Drewe Broughton will bring something to us, it probably will not be loads of goals but he is a clever striker and everytime he has played at the Bank, we all bemoan him because he causes us problems EVERY game he plays.

CS has had to deal with the rubbish and inflated wages left behind by Wacko Jacko. Little room for manouvere...sure he's made some errors but wouldn't we all?? We've also got some quality in the team now in some places....expect a very different look at the start of next season..

Would that be the same Yeo who scored the winner for Harrogate Town tonight, away to Vauxhall Motors?
The very same Yeo.....Good signing from Mr Weaver, also has Matt Bloomer there too and Ollie Ryan but he is currently out on loan at Buxton....and scoring!!!
