Saha given challenge by Moyes

Everton manager David Moyes has issued a challenge to his top scorer Louis Saha after the signing of his recent new contract.

The former Manchester United and Fulham striker etched his signature on a two-year extension last week and Moyes hopes the Frenchman will continue his impressive scoring form.
 
The French forward has scored 13 times in all competitions this campaign and his manager said that he's always thought he has been at the forefront of attacking players in England.

"I think he's always been in the top bracket of strikers," Moyes told the press ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

"I think everybody who's played against him and the managers who've worked with him will tell you that Louis Saha has got undoubted ability.

"We've seen that and we want to keep seeing it between now and the end of the season again."

Saha has been plagued by injury setbacks during his time in the Premier League. But the move that brought him down East Lancashire Road was always considered to be a shrewd one, if the player could avoid any further problems.

And the Blues boss isn't surprised that the acquistion has turned out to be quite a coup.

"I think it might have been a surprise if you'd have looked at the 2 or 3 years before he came here," Moyes continued. "But I think in the end, Louis always thought that he'd had a bad time with injuries and if he could put that behind him, then he would play some games.

"He's done that and he's getting his rewards and training hard and putting the effort in on the training ground and missing very few days training - so he's benefitting from that."
