Ex Lincoln City goalkeeper, Chris Day has been released by Queens Park Rangers and is being tipped as one of several possible replacements for current Imps keeper, Alan Marriott who is believed to be leaving in the summer.
Several Lincoln fans have said that Marriott wants to head back down to his native south when his contract expires in the summer and that has sparked several rumours as to who his replacement would be. Many fans would like to see current City keeper, Simon Rayner take over, however, other names being touted about were Hartlepool's Jim Provett and even Mansfield's Kevin Pilkington.
Chris Day played 14 League games for the Imps in the 2000/1 season when Marriott became injured and gave a massive contribution to City staying in the League. Day even managed to keep Marriott out of the City squad after Marriott had recovered from his injury. Day said as he was departing that he would love the chance to play at Sincil Bank again one day and following his release from QPR on Tuesday, he might just get that choice soon.
