Peter Jackson's summer long pursuit of Peterborough United's Rene Howe finally came to an end today as the striker joined Lincoln City on loan. The striker has had two successful loan spells in League Two in recent seasons and has come to Sincil Bank to aid our unlikely bid for the Playoffs.
Howe's career saw him at Bedford and Kettering before he joined Peterborough United, but first team opportunities were limited due to the form of Aaron McLean, Craig M-Smith and George Boyd, three of the best players in the Football League.
He joined Rochdale towards the back end of the 2007/8 season and helped them on their way to an unsuccessful Playoff campaign, losing in the final to Stockport County. He subsequently helped Morecambe to push for the Playoffs last season, but reports came out that he had a poor attitude off of the pitch.
Rene will be with the Imps until the New Year, at which point the loan move can be either extended or made permanent.

Happy with this deal the club have got their man on their terms and not Barry Fry's.
More hopefully now things seem to be coming together, time will tell of course.

I may not get much right this season, but I did counsel for patient optimism in regards to a new striker and Barry's inability to sell.
I will take comfort from the thought that Jacko and Steff may have a little more idea about the nuances of transfer dancing than some may give them credit for.
Who knows, maybe they even have an idea as to how to get us promoted.
We can but dream.

Should be a good addition. One more forward and we will have a reasonable squad for the start of the season.

Potentially good signing and the way it has been done is good as well - six months only so if he turns out to be rubbish we are not stuck with him. If he does the business we've a chance to make it permanent.
One more striker, please, and one with a reasonable goal scoring record. Another one on loan from higher up would be okay if we can't find a permanent.

Whilst I am not what you would call a Jackson supporter, I think he deserves credit for this.
IMHO he has put together a well-balanced squad.

Good signing so i willl reajust my prediction for us from 16th to 9th. 1 more striker and i think we could look at the top 7
Let me be one to put the cat amongst the pigeons but does anyone remember some one who came to us last season on the same deal.........Gall!

You can Keith but this guy has scored 20+ goals at this level over the last two seasons whereas Gall couldn't hit a cows @#$%& wih a banjo! 
This guy is much better than Gall.
Again though Keith he's only on loan til xmas so if he is@#$%&he can go back and no one loses out. Bonus!

Agree with most of this except the end part. If he is@#$%&Lincoln City will suffer and the fans chance of anything in the top 12 will be ruined.
I dont think he will be though Dave once we get him fit by the end of August.

Is a fee agreed before the loan deal? If not I am sure Mr Fry will be looking for £250k if he hits double figures before Jan.

IMHO Connor will start with Howe on the bench. Howe hasn't played with the team and probably isn't fit yet.

Howe did play 1/2 pre-season games for posh. he played v luton but missed some easy chances from the report that was in the NLP.
hopefully he'll score us some goals along with Fagan and connor.
