Chris Fagan's pre-season ended with yet another goal and he certainly appears to be a man that the Imps can certainly rely on to score a fair amount of goals during the season. His finishing has been typical of a striker who learnt his trade at Old Trafford.

Fagan joined the Imps from the Glenn Hoddle academy in June and it appeared the City had found a hidden gem due to the striker having a fairly decent record for Manchester United's famed youth academy. It was the same academy that produced some players who are consistently good performers in the Football League in recent years, such as West Brom's Jonathan Greening, Wolverhampton's Sylvan Ebanks-Blake, amongst others.

Despite taking a few games to get underway, he finally hit the net with a fine volley against Boston United after just two minutes and hasn't really looked back since, hitting a brilliant effort against Arsenal before Saturday's penalty against Goole.

It's a rare sight to see a City striker having a good pre-season and the only other recent example we can pull back to is Adrian Patulea last season with the Romanian hitting a hatrick against Lincoln United and then another goal against Retford a few days later.

Peter Jackson has often stated that he isn't sure which striker will play up front with Fagan this season, meaning that the Irishman has a great chance to re-ignite his career.

What are your feelings about how Fagan will do over the coming season and what impact can he have on the rest of the team?

3 goals so far is very promising indeed but we mustn't over play him as he wont be used to playing week in week out.
Hence why more bodies are vital upfront so we dont burn him out.

Didn't Niall Mcnamara score loads in pre season? I hope i'm wrong but i don't think fagan will score more than 10 this year.

Niall McNamara didn't score once during pre-season. He joined on the deadline day in 2002/3 along with a player called Mark Ward (before someone says it, no, not Chris Ward, he had left by the time Mark Ward came in) and Ward scored for fun in pre-season....only to never play a minute of first team football.

I thought Mcnamara had a great pre season in northern ireland? Perhaps i'm thinking of allan pearce or some other failing striker. My point is we have had alot of strikers who have impressed pre season and been @#$%& when the season kicks off.
