Imps remain unvictorious in pre-season

Scunthorpe United claimed the Lincolnshire Senior Cup after a victory over the Imps on penalties. It means that City are still winless in pre-season with only one friendly remaining.

City's poor pre-season started against TUS Celle as the Imps lost 1-0 in Germany. A few days later and Ferencvaros made the trip to Sincil Bank for an entertaining 0-0 draw. A draw at Boston United was followed by the youth team getting hammered by Sleaford Town. Going to 3-2 at home to Arsenal was then followed by the youth team drawing 1-1 at Lincoln United. The 2-0 defeat to Sheffield United was followed by tonight's result.

The Imps were infact just seconds away from victory after Andy Hutchinson's 16th minute opener, but Ben May struck up five minutes into stoppage time to bring the Iron level. The game went to penalties and Scunthorpe took the advantage early and won 4-2 after Oakes and Miller missed for City.

Lincoln's next fleeting attempt at a pre-season win will be at Goole on Saturday.

at least we ahven't had any wins like against aston villa and give fans over the top thoughts and predictions about how well we will do.

no matter how well you play pre season it has no real affect on the league season

we've had pre seasons where we have won more often than not and find ourselves in the same place

i think this might be a positive omen. Last pre-season we won our games and Jacko shouted his mouth off and we managed half way, this season lost our pre-season games no mouth from Jacko, so looks good to me. Stay positive.

To be fair there are good reasons for not winning in most cases.

Should we really expecct a win against Ferencvaros, the Arsenal XI, or Sheffield Utd?

The Celle game was the first of the season with 3 new players and at least 2 teenagers in it (Conner still hadn't joined).

Boston was always going to be a fight. We would expect to win, but it isn't exactly a shock that we didn't.

The other games involved our 2nd string, or the Youth Players.

If we have not won after the first month of the season I will start to worry, but we still have time to bring in a new face or two and the team needs time to gell a little.

Mind you, I reserve the right to get a little morbid if we don't beat Goole!

Ohh, what fickle fans we are.

pre season you could argue is more for the fans in a way.

games against some bigger teams will get the crowds in. its just fitness fitness fitness for the players regards pre season.

thats why more often than not teams play sides lower down them in the football pyramid, you'll know they'll be up for it more
