Lincoln City's 2-2 draw against Brentford didn't produce a great performance, but there were one or two positive points from the game, namely the two new players who both impressed. However, there were still a few worrying signs and the future still looks a little bit foggy due to a run of just 2 wins in 12 games. Well where can we really start? Let's go for the obvious of the new signings and my concern about Geoff Horsfield. Now, I know that many of you are thinking about how I could possibly slag him off after one game, but that's not what I'm about to do. I'm more concerned that he played nearly a full game after not playing a game for god knows how long. It just strikes me as strange that Jackson played him for as long as he did, rather than just bringing him on as a late sub, replacing someone such as Patulea. Obviously within time it would be a case where he would more than likely start games, but to start games after no match practice is very strange.

However, Horsfield certainly did look impactful, being involved in both goals and when he has got near enough full fitness, he could easily be the player we've been missing for quite some time. It's been a while since we had a striker who puts himself about like him. It could get interesting in the near future.

Going back to Patulea, has Jackson stopped thinking he can do a job or something? At no other club would your top scorer, and the only player who scores on a regular basis, be left on the bench for the vast majority of a match in which you didn't look like scoring, yet this was the second game in a row that this has happened.

Then we get onto Elding. I haven't seen a decent debut for a while but Elding really impressed me in his first appearance for the club. He put himself about, won near enough every single header that came near him and really should have scored more than one, either way it was a nice finish for the goal and when Horsfield is fit, I think they and Patulea could provide an excellent three pronged attack.

Whilst it looks promising going forward, the last two games have certainly shown we've got work to do at the back. The amount of times that both Luton and Brentford got behind our defence is worrying to say the least. Infact, even against Accrington and Notts County were looked shaky. It just feels that we're starting to creep towards a game where our leaky defence will be punished thoroughly.

Then we get onto our run of just 2 wins in 12 games. We haven't faced many decent teams in that run and if we're all going to be honest, we didn't deserve to win the games against Accrington and Notts County. Accrington should have been out of sight by half time and Notts would have scored three or four past us if they had a decent striker. We're never going to get anywhere if we don't start performing on a regular basis and we are extremely fortunate to still be in the top half of the table.

Overall, there's not really enough to convince me that we're good enough for promotion just yet, there are still far more negative aspects than positive. We don't have any easy games coming up as we starting to face a lot of teams higher up in the table than us. On one hand this could be a good thing if we get our act together as it could potentially see us move towards the Playoffs, alternatively it could end all remaining hope whatsoever.

I thought Elding was quite poor apart from his goal and don't remember him winning more than a couple of headers all game! And don't you think virtually dominating the 2nd half with 10 men against a side 2nd in the table deserves a bit more praise?? If it wasn't for Hone and the apalling referee, we could and probably should have won that game comfortably. Agree about Patulea though, I was very surprised he didn't start. Then again, our new strikeforce linked up nicely for the equaliser.

Elding and the Horse looked good together. Have to agree totally about Hone he had a 'mare against Bowditch although did have hold of shirt when they were togetherand of course he fluffed that chance near the end to win it for us. Also agree on Kerr brilliant for the goal but again made some silly challenges during the game and very lucky not be booked given the performance of the ref. Both wingers were v good DNG really caused them problems v pleased he scored.
Loads to build on for me, cant go next week working BOO!
So roll on the 24th and we give Jester a good beating.
What did your Brentford friend think who you bringing Chesh?
