Kevin Gall has been at the club just over a month and has already started questioning the intelligence of City fans. The striker hasn't performed this season and has criticised the Imps fans for questioning his ability to score goals after he has failed to find the back of the net in 523 minutes of action.

You know what, it takes a lot for a player to properly wind me up by talking to the Lincolnshire Echo, but Kevin Gall has actually managed to do it. Gall joined the Imps in the summer from Carlisle United on a six month loan and it hasn't taken him long to come up with excuses for his lack of goals. In 523 minutes, Gall has failed to find the net and has very looked like scoring and he is convinced it's because he hasn't had many opportunities in front of net.

"It's been frustrating, but to be honest I've only had two or three shots. I've not had that many chances. I probably should have scored against Rotherham on the opening day. I also had a shot against Derby which the goalkeeper saved. I had a half-shot after I came on against Bury on Saturday and that's been it," he told the Lincolnshire Echo

At the point, I would like to bring to your attention the table on the right hand side of this page. Despite Kevin's claims about only having two or three shots this season, he has infact had nine, none of which have liked going in. Infact, just four of those have been on target, an average of 130 minutes and 45 seconds between shots on target.

He continued "A lot of people are maybe judging me on that. I think that's a little unfair. But people are going to have an opinion, think that and that's fine. That's football, I'm used to it, I've been in the game long enough to know that. A lot of people don't see the bigger picture. They just see the game, they don't perhaps see the individual. I do a lot of other things apart from just getting on the ball."

Any chance of you pointing out what those other things are Kevin? The only thing I have seen you do one thing whilst not on the ball and that was to call for the ball whilst in an offside position against Dagenham, an incident where you could see all the way along the line. If you're going to question the fan's intelligence regarding the game then you could at least give examples of what you do off the ball, because I do actually occasionally watch you and you don't actually do a lot.

Kevin, how about instead of running to the papers with your little sob story, that you actually start performing on the pitch? You're a striker and you're here to score goals. I'm not going to debate your effort, I'll hold my hands up and admit it's nice to see a player that runs around at full speed for the full 90 minutes, but at the end of the day strikers don't stay at clubs if they don't score goals, just ask Dene Cropper, Ellis Remy and Rory May.

It would not be quite so bad had he converted some of those efforts, but he does not look as if he could hit a cows backside with a banjo. Gall makes Tony Battersby look prolific.

At least Battersby could hold the ball up, and was our top scorer in the 3rd tier ........ which makes him the 'best' striker we have had here for over 20 years!!!!!!

I do understand where he is coming from,we are as well as not defending fortress bank blah blah made of sand more like.
We are not creating that many clear cut chances either.
Where's this sort it out from the back first, i would prefer a few bore draws ,grind them out build confidence then go on from there.
Results are required but we need confidence why can we go out and play well against higher teams in cup games then can't cut the mustard in L2?

I think Kevin Gall would be very dissapointed to find out how his echo comments were portrayed. I think it was more a desperate cry for support of him from the fans instead of a how can you judge me now statement.

Agree with you 100% Chesh... Think some folk are quick to assert the blame & this season it seesms Kevin Gall is coming in for a rough time.. There are plenty of others who havent done much this season either.....

I am not a Kevin Gall fan, actually, I think he is one of the worst strikers I've seen in an Imps shirt in 20 years, but some of the things said in this 'article' and subsequent comments are frankly stupid and naive. Gall has not gone crying to the Echo, he has been interviewed by the paper. Do you really think that players contact newspapers at this level to complain about something? If you haven't noticed, there is a pretty steady flow of player interviews throughout the week, and they largely feature different players. Having worked for Clubcall many years ago, I can tell you with some authority that squads have a rota system for media interviews, and players, other than the captain, take turns in fulfilling media committments. Also, I really don't see what he has said that has 'alienated fans in one fell swoop', he has simply answered a journalists' questions. Lincoln City, over the years, have proved to be a pretty poor football team, and comments such as this also prove that we have some pretty poor supporters.

Having read Gall's comments again, it is pretty clear that he is far more articulate and knowledgable about football than 99% of the insights offered by a certain Mr Jackson.

You dont expect a player to defend themself if they are under pressure from the fans then? Fair enough he's had a fairly poor showing in front of goal, and some of the criticism is just. At least by saying something, he knows that he has to improve, rather than staying quiet and ignoring it.

I'm sure he knows in himself what he has to do, having a go at him isnt going to help anyone.

To 79Imp, you do actually know that the Echo will talk to someone and make extremely brief notes about what was said? For example, I said something in that biggest fan last year and the Echo changed it to something else. Just because the Echo says the player said those exact words, don't be fooled into thinking those words have come directly from the mouth of that player(s)

Err, so youre caning Gall based on innaccurate Echo quotes?! Lets give the lad a chance eh? He's only on loan so if he turns out to be complete toss he'll be out at Christmas.

Nope, I didn't specifically said that. I was responding to 79Imps' message that just because the quote appears to be articulate in the Echo, it doesn't mean those were the specific words sense.

So let me get this straight Nathan. The Echo don't print what the player says, but you base a very critical article on what the Echo report what a player has said. You also say that Gall has questioned the intelligence of the Lincoln fans. On the basis of what you have written, I'd say he's got a point.

I am a bit fed up of people laying into players when they don't deserve it. No, Gall hasn't shone at all if the truth is known, but how the hell are Lincoln going to get promoted if we don't give them a chance. They just haven't gelled at all.
It seems there are a few on here who seem to revel in targeting particular players. If they deserve it, thats fine, but if they don't, I fail to see why they have to have a go.
The management know who is performing and who isn't, and why they aren't performing. All we get to see if we are lucky is 90 minutes a week. Jacko sees them day in day out. He knows whats going on.
