Scott Kerr was the captain of Lincoln City and was been a near ever-present during his time at the Imps since joining from Scarborough in 2005. He wasn't a great scorer of goals but his goals did usually have an accent of style about them. Kerr is the main motivator amongst the squad and is always the first to let the other players know if they're not performing up to standard.

Currently the longest serving member of the first team, Scott was one of the first to join the Imps when all the rebuilding work had to be done after most players left after the 2005 playoff defeat, and it’s hard to believe that fans were disappointed that we’d signed him and Colin Cryan from non-league Scarborough. The Leeds fan, who had spent his entire career with Yorkshire teams, jumped at the chance of a return to League football after being with Bradford and Hull before Scarborough.

Kerr missed out on the first 3 games but made his debut in City’s first win of the season against Oxford. His arrival in the starting line-up saw the Imps go upbeaten for nearly a month before a defeat to Peterborough. A few days later and Kerr produced one of his best performances for the Imps when City travelled to Fulham in the second round of the Carling Cup and he capped it off by scoring a cracking free time in extra-time to bring the Imps back to 4-3.

He continued through the season but under Keith Alexander’s tactics, being a midfielder as Sincil Bank has as much point as a brothel in the Vatican. He eventually scored his second goal for the Imps in somewhat fortunate circumstances. City were already 3-1 up against Barnet in January when Kerr sent a ball into the box from around 45 yards out but it missed everyone and caught the goalkeeper by surprise and gave the Imps the longest range goal since Mark Bailey’s 72 yard effort against Carlisle.

A third for the Imps came thanks to the the aid of a heavy deflection against Torquay but that his scoring exploits were over for the season. He ended the 2005/6 season with disappointment as City were knocked out of the playoffs.

Scott Kerr improved immensely under the management of Deehan and Schofield, as an on-the-ground style obviously suited him and he was a regular in the first team. At the beginning of the 2007/8 season he was appointed as captain following the departure of Paul Morgan.

Peter Jackson took over as manager and Kerr remained as captain before Lee Frecklington left for Peterborough United. This allowed Kerr a bit more freedom and the midfielder became more of a goal threat for the Imps. He had a fine 2008/9 and was named as the Player of the Season for that year. The 2009/10 season was a bit rough on Scott. Jackson left and was replaced by Sutton, who promptly dropped Kerr for several months of the season. However, injuries meant that Kerr was put back in the team and he became a near even present after that.

Kerr yet again had to fight for his place when Sutton left and was replaced by Tilson and despite winning his place back, he left the football club on the eve of his 250th appearance for the Imps. He joined York City of the Blue Square Premier and at the time of writing, has been there ever since.
