Lincoln City have announced that former Huddersfield manager Peter Jackson is their new manager just over 2 weeks since John Schofield and John Deehan left their positions at the club. Having lead Huddersfield to promotion and two pushes for promotion from League One in successive seasons following that promotion. Jackson was my personal choice so I am personally delighted about this appointment.

This appointment could be viewed as a coup for the Imps as Jackson was linked with several higher profile jobs, including teams in League on and even two in the Championship. However, the Imps have shown their ambition by appointing an excellent manager who knows what it takes to get the best out of his players.

He was re-appointed as Huddersfield manager in 2003, inheriting a side of just 8 players whilst in serious debt. He filled up his squad with new players such as Efe Sodje and Rob Edwards. After a steady start to the season, Huddersfield quickly started to climb the league and only missed out on automatic promotion on the final day of the season.

They went on to beat Lincoln 4-3 on aggregate in the Playoff Semi Finals before beating Mansfield in the final.

The following season they continued to progress, but unfortunately missed out on the League One Playoffs by a few points. In 2005/6 the Terriers challenged for automatic promotion but a poor finish to the season saw them slip into the Playoffs. After Gary Taylor-Fletcher gave them a 1-0 first leg lead, they threw it away by losing 3-1 in the home leg, crashing out 3-2 on aggregate.

Jackson will be in charge for this Friday's game against Chester.
