North West Counties league outfit Congleton Town defied the differences in divisions and produced a very impressive performance in a 1-1 draw with Conference side Leigh RMI in front of a small crowd at Congleton's Booth Street home. Congleton had the better of the early stages but it was RMI who took the lead just after the half hour mark when former Blackpool defender Guy Heffernan scored his first goal for the club.
The plague of conceding last minute goals which has caused RMI many problems over recent seasons seems not be have been solved with Congleton finally beating man of the match Stuart Coburn via Scott Williams in the 88th minute.
