Lincoln beat Bradford to Burch signing

Lincoln City and Bradford City have been looking at very similar players this summer. Whenever one has been linked with a certain player, the other isn't far behind but the Imps have beaten the Bantams to the signing of Rob Burch. The goalkeeper is set to replace Alan Marriott in between the sticks and become the second ex-Tottenham keeper in a row to be City's number one.

Rob Burch isn't exactly the most experienced goalkeeper out there. Infact, some people who often claim to be "in the know" guaranteed that the new goalkeeper would be experienced. Burch has completed just 17 first team games at club level, only two of those weren't whilst he was on loan.

Burch has played in League Two before, a loan spell at Barnet in the 2006/7 season. He played for the Bees on 6 occasions, winning once, drawing twice and losing three times.

Burch will become the second first team (for a significant amount of time) Imps goalkeeper in a row to have played for Tottenham Hotspur at some point during his career. Burch will probably be hoping he can replicate the length of time that Alan Marriott spent at this club.

Burch is highly rated in footballing circles and Jackson has described it as a massive signing for our club.
