Newcastle United travel to Ipswich Town today for more than a game of football; The two sides, both former clubs of the late Sir Bobby Robson will play in tribute to the man they hold in such high regard. With special dispensation from the FA, both sides will deviate from their normal strips and wear special kits in his memory in this televised, 5.30pm, sell out.

Newcastle have been off to a flying start this season and are 2^nd in the table, with just 1 defeat in the league to 6 wins, whilst Ipswich are currently 23^rd in the table with 4 draws and 4 defeats under their belt.

For Newcastle, Andy Carroll, Fabricio Coloccini and Jose Enrique are all set to start, having been sidelined for the midweek Carling Cup game, whilst new loan signing Marlon Harewood could be in line for his club debut.

The injuries are piling up for Newcastle with Shola Ameobi (foot), Jonas Gutierrez (hamstring), Danny Simpson (ankle), Tamas Kadar (groin) and Joey Barton (foot) all absent, whilst Danny Guthrie will serve the 1 match suspension he picked up for a red card in midweek.

Roy Keane's Ipswich Town remain without Luciano Civelli and David Norris who both have long term knee injuries whilst Ben Thatcher is unlikely to be included. Keane could name defender Gareth McAuley after he served his suspension but he is struggling with a calf problem.

Jack Colback and Tamas Priskin are both looking for a place in the starting line-up after both coming off the bench to score last weekend.

Newcastle will be looking to prey on Ipswich's weak defence after they twice conceded the lead against Doncaster Rovers in their last game, whilst Keane will be desperate to stave off another defeat which would see him manage their worst ever start to a football league season.

Fact: For the last meeting between these two teams Sir Bobby Robson was managing Newcastle Utd at St James' Park which ended a 2-2 draw.

Fact: Ipswich have won just once in their last 9 meetings with Newcastle United in all competitions - that being in 2001 from a penalty.

Think the FA have done a good thing in allowing commemorative shirts. The merchandise cash going to the SBR foundation is also a nice touch. I hope they make a fortune.

pretty pleased hughton has gone with ranger, shows faith in the young lad. he could easily have played just carroll with nolan or lovenkrands close to him, or started harewood and no-one would have batted an eyelid.

hope nile takes this chance to get a run going in the team

I am really glad we are playing away today, obviously for the score but for the way the Ipswich board have dealt with the Sir Bob celebration and the way they have shown the respect he fully deserves. If this was at home I don't think we would have dealt with it this way. Well Done to the Ipswich board and there fans as well as our fans at the game

I cannot hear any accent when the Stones, Beatles, or others sing; but it is very distinct when the crowd is singing. Is this the Geordie element or just a crowd that can't sing well or something else? Hmm.

best we have played in ages the whole team played well and nolan was exceptional.

I think its safe to say we are gonna be up there at the end of the year but i would like us to put in a few more performances like this and really hammer home our extra quality to the rest of the league to install a fear factor of coming up against us to get rid of this cup final attitude smaller teams have when we play them if we do that we should have no problems in going back up.

Great result, and perhaps the best part of all is the fact we now have two home games coming up. Lets hope we can keep this momentum and build on what has been an excellent start to the season.

If investement isn't made then we stand a chance of being a yo yo club. Hopefully the club can be taken over when the transfer window is shut and then we can invest heavily if we get back up. In the premiership we will need some quality as well as depth
