Bail Rules Barton Out Against Liverpool
By Tyne-Talk February 23 2008
Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton will miss out on his teams travels to Anfield next month due to the conditions of his bail. The exact details of his bail have not been released into the public domain but Kevin Keegan has confirmed that the former Manchester City player will NOT be able to play against Liverpool.

Keegan will take his side to Anfield on Saturday 8th March, but Barton who has been charged with Assault and Affray will not be returning to his hometown.

Barton was initially refused bail after an incident which occured in the early hours of December 27th 2007. He was remanded in custody and was only granted bail on the third attempt.

At that point he was training with the club but wasnt allowed to play until the conditions were changed in mid January, he was also adhering to a curfew which meant he had to return to a Hampshire clinic where he was allegedly being treated for alcohol addiction.

Joey is due to appear in court on 12th March 2008 when he will be answering those bail conditions.

Keegan confirmed Joey's absence and also stated that if the case is adjourned then he may also miss the game against Everton.

"The only games he can't play are Liverpool and Everton, because of the restrictions the judge has put on him.

Other than that, his training's really good, I'm really pleased with his attitude. This week, in particular, it's been outstanding. He's been training with us every day and he has been very good."

Emre didn't play because he is an unfit f'cker that is regularly injured man...

...he has never done 90 minutes week in/week out...I'm not saying he is not good - but Keegan didn't choose Barton over him against ManUre...

(...even if he did choose Barton over Emre in the game before this the other week...aye it does make you think) (??)

I don't agree he gave every ball away against Man U either...it's baalls that...

We need Barton in our team - just like we need Emre, Zogs, Milner and Duff.

Creative midfielders that can make a difference to games and that...pity this - him missing out games; but it is well expected.

I'm glad the Barton doesn't seem to be getting any chance to f'ck up at the minute. Off the drink and any other Rio Ferdinand type *cough* lifters that he'd be taking on the night of the occasion...

Keep your head down Barton and and earn your Newcastle money for us...

I see where you're coming from, but every NUFC player was guilty of this. Barton was one of two (Beye was the other one) who consistently ran off the ball.
