Olympique Lyonaisse Preview
By Mark Heys July 20 2007
The Peace Cup Final between Bolton Wanderers and Olympique Lyonnaise takes place tommorow with the Trotters hoping to outshine their French opponents and bring some silverware back from their tour of South Korea..

Victories over Chivas Guadalajara and Racing Santander and a draw with Seongnam Ilhwa means that the Trotters are so far undefeated in this competition, but their match against the French champions in Seoul will represent their biggest challenge of the summer thus far.

Lyon have defeated River Plate of Argentina and Japan's Shimizu S-Pulse on their way to the final but a Simon Cox goal for Reading last week made sure that Alain Perrin's side did not claim a full house in the Group stage.

This will be the third time that Lyon have made the final of the Peace Cup as they where involved in the two previous finals in 2003 and 2005.

In 2003 they lost by a singular goal against PSV Eindhoven and two years ago they where beaten 3-1 by the Wanderers Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Last season's top goalscorer Nicolas Anelka may miss out on facing the club who are interested in his services owing to a bruised foot and reserve goalkeeper Ian Walker is once again a doubt with a back problem.

Blerim Dzemaili and Ricardo Gardner are both long term absentees and new boys Mikel Alonso and Heidar Helguson are ineligable to play in the tournament.

Icelandic star Helguson was signed from Fulham on Friday and if all the finer details of his transfer are in place then should make his debut in the midweek trip to Hibernian.

Lyon include former Liverpool duo Milan Baros and Alou Diarra in their line up as well as one time Wanderers target and French international Sidney Govou.

Experienced campainer Gregory Coupet may take his place between the sticks for the French side.

If Bolton win this cup then it will be their second on Asian soil following on from the tour of Japan two summers ago.
