Manchester United legend Harry Gregg says that the Premier League needs a club with the traditions of Bolton Wanderers and has backed the Trotters to maintain their top flight status in the remaining weeks of the season.

Former Northern Ireland international and Munich Air Crash survivor Gregg is back in the local area next week after being invited to attend the 50th anniversairy dinner at the Reebok Stadium to remember Bolton's FA Cup Final dual against United in 1958.

Whilst the former goalkeeper was on the losing United side that day and victim to the now infamous barge by Nat Lofthouse which lead to the winning Bolton goal, he told the Bolton News that he will be cheering the club on in their quest for top flight survival.

"They face a fight now at the Reebok to preserve their Premiership status, but there should always be a place at the top for a club with such traditions." said Gregg in the weekend edition of the Bolton News

"Players and fans from my time in football will always regard Wanderers as a top club, and I certainly will be shouting them on to success in their relegation battle in the closing weeks of the season."

Gregg made over 200 appearances for United and also represented Doncaster Rovers and Stoke City prior to taking up management and coaching positions with the likes of Shrewsbury Town, Swansea City, Crewe Alexandra and Carlisle United.
