Injury Worse Than Feared

Bolton Wanderers striker Kevin Davies could miss the remainder of the season after scans on the finger injury picked up in the win against West Ham United also revealed that the forward had broken his hand in three places.

The 31-year old's weekend turned from extacy to agony quite literally because shortly after putting Bolton in front and on course for their first win in two months he sustained a dislocated finger which had to be aligned back into place.

He was sent for a precautionary scan on Tuesday which showed further damage to his hand and this could possibly rule him out of the last two matches of the season against Sunderland and Chelsea.

Davies, who will miss the next two matches against Middlesbrough and Tottenham Hotspur through suspension anyway, says that the injury will be assessed prior to the game against Sunderland in a fortnight

"I've got three fractures and I had an operation on Tuesday," said the ex-Southampton star

"Whether I've got a chance of getting back for the last two games is doubtful, but hopefully it heals quickly.

"I'll have it rescanned before we play Sunderland at home and maybe I could play with a cast on.

Heidar Helguson could come back into the fray to replace Davies after missing the win against the Hammers. Alternatively, there could be rare starts for Stelios Giannakopoulos, Ricardo Vaz-Te or Grzegorz Rasiak.
