Utility player Chris joined Bolton Academy towards the end of the 2005-2006 season following a successful spell on trial from his local club Chester le Street,

He was released as a schoolboy at Newcastle United and spent the winter of 2006 out on a loan/work experience arrangement with Conference team Stafford Rangers.

Last summer he made his Wanderers debut in the pre-season friendly against Burnley at Turf Moor and in 2007 he helped the reserve side claim their first league title in twelve years.

In February 2007 he got his first chance of league football when being loaned out to the Wanderers Lancashire rivals Rochdale on a three month loan agreement.
