McInnes heading South from Saints?

A story in an English Sunday newspaper suggests Saint Johnstone manager Derek McInnes could be heading south to England.

The Sunday People have linked the Saints with League One side Brentford. McInnes has led the Saints to promotion and kept them in the SPL and also taken them to a Scottish Cup Semi Final this season.

 

The paper says an official approach has been made for McInnes by the Griffin Park side and that he has told friends that he would be looking for a fresh challenge in League One.

 

Brentford have big plans which could well sway McInnes who may believe he has taken the Saints as far as he can given the level of support they get from the people of Perth.

 

If he can go down there and succeed this would add to the growing number of Scots managing and succeeding down South.
