Steve Coppell's Reading side will train at their brand new training complex tomorrow in Finchampstead for the 1st time after the initial work at the site has been completed.

He'll take his side to the ground in preparation for Wednesday's 1st Round Carling Cup clash with local rivals Oxford United, due to be played at the Kassam Stadium.

The training ground, called "Hogwood Park" has been built at a cost of approximately £2million.

The land was formerly owned by the Ministry Of Defence and after years of looking for a suitable home, the club look to have found the perfect site.

The club had been training at the Reading Hockey/Cricket Club in Sonning Common for a number of years now, and also at Bradfield College during the summer months.

Hogwood Park will consist of 8 pitches, 5 of which will be used for the 1st team squad, 2 for the academy players and 2 more small sized pitches. 1 of the pitches which will be identical to the Madejski Stadium surface, which should help the players get the feel of the surface and should prove to be a big success.

Madejski Stadium manager Ray Booth said

"The process of building our own training facilities which we regard as an extremely important step forward, has been ongoing for a very long time, and is now nearing completion."

The new training facility will host the club's academy matches.

It is believed however that the club will NOT move the training dome out to Hogwood Park, because the dome has proved to be a very good money earner at the Madejski Stadium.
