Scarborough 3 Leigh RMI 0

RMI crumbled to their third comprehensive 3-0 defeat of the week after Scarborough 'took Leigh to the cleaners' at the McCain Stadium this afternoon.
For the third time in a week RMI were given a thorough footballing lesson, but following the two previous 3-0 defeats to Barnet and Carlisle in the past seven days, this unfamiliar Leigh side are simply not learning from their experiences. As was the case in the home defeat to Barnet last Saturday and at Carlisle on Tuesday night, RMI were completely outplayed by a superior full-time side who simply had far too much class for a part-time and inexperienced Leigh outfit.

The match statistics tell you much of the game in a nutshell. The Seadogs dominated possession by a huge degree as they look to climb the table, while they had nine times as many shots as RMI and collected a whopping corners in comparison to RMI's failure to even manage to force a single one.

However, as happened in the 3-0 defeat in Cumbria on Tuesday night, RMI held their own as far as the scoresheet was concerned until they were undone just before half-time when Kevin Nicholson's free kick found Chris Senior who had the simple task of slotting the ball past Jon Worsnop from close range to give the hosts a one goal lead at the break.

The second half followed much the same pattern with Worsnop's goal being put under immense pressure as RMI failed to get a foothold in the game and create some goalscoring opportunities, and it was no surprise to see the hosts double their lead when again Nicholson provided the assist via a set-piece, with Colin Cryan connecting with his corner to give the Seadogs a 2-0 advantage, before Mark Hotte sealed the victory with ten minutes remaining.

RMI's misery was compounded with the dismissal of Andy Roscoe for violent conduct towards the end of the game, and a big improvement will be required from Steve Bleasdale's side if they are to take anything from next weekend's home game against Burton Albion.
