Leigh RMI 0 Gravesend & Northfleet 1

By Matt Lawton January 11 2005
Adam Drury scored the only goal of the game at Hilton Park midway through the first half as nine-man RMI fell to yet another Conference defeat.
The match took place in a wide variety of weather conditions, starting with bright sunshine and finishing in freezing darkness, with torrential rain, sleet, gale force winds and a hailstorm along the way.

RMI’s best chances came in the middle of the torrential downpour of hailstone during the first half, with Warren Peyton being denied by Gravesend goalkeeper James Pullen shortly before Craig Mitchell forced Pullen in to a terrific save after Mitchell’s shot from distance was destined to hit the back of the net.

However, it was the visitors who took the lead when Drury smashed the ball in to the net after a precise pass from former Wycombe Wanderers star Roy Essandoh.

RMI’s misery was compounded late on when firstly Mitchell was sent off with ten minutes remaining for a late challenge on Justin Skinner, before Steve Smith harshly followed him down the tunnel after a committing a second bookable offence.
