Aldershot Town 2 Leigh RMI 0

By Matt Lawton December 18 2004
It's sixteen league games and counting without a win for Leigh RMI as they fell to defeat yet again this afternoon to a side that weren't too far ahead of them in the form league.
Although yet another defeat is always going to demoralising for RMI boss Geoff Lutley and his side, Lutley can certainly look on the result on being an improvement following last weekend's 6-0 hammering at home to Accrington Stanley, although clutching at such straws certainly sums up RMI's horrific season, with the relegation trap-door growing wider all the time, with the prospect of Conference North football at Hilton Park next season growing with each week.

As was the case last week, RMI managed to hold out early on but threw away their progress in the final quarter of the first half when first youngster Mark Drew was sent off for the second time this season after hauling down Hugh McAuley, before Tyrone Smith's free kick gave the hosts the lead on the stroke of half time.

A comfortable afternoon for the Shots was completed shortly after the restart when Jonathan Dixon's penalty doubled their lead.
