Cambridge City 2 Leigh RMI 1

By Matt Lawton
November 16 2004
RMI's FA Cup dream ended for another year after an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Cambridge City, a side who ply their trade a division below RMI in the Conference South league.
After a shock victory over Lancashire rivals Accrington Stanley in the previous round, RMI boss Phil Starbuck was confidet of returning from his former club with a place in the Second Round and a handsome cheque in the bag, and that looked all the more likely when RMI took an early lead through Chris Simm after just fourteen minutes, a lead which they held to half-time.

However, Dave Sadler restored parity after the RMI goal had come under a barrage of attacks from the hosts, before City claimed an unlikely, although fully deserved, victory when Jonathon Stevenson drilled home the winner deep in to injury time.
