York City 1 Leigh RMI 1

By Matt Lawton
September 22 2004
Barry Miller's first goal for RMI, deep in to stoppage time, gave the Railwaymen a last gasp point at former Football League outfit York City.
Despite some stinging criticism in recent weeks in the local press from RMI boss Phil Starbuck, Leigh were indebted to Australian goalkeeper Ian Martin, who kept his side in the game throughout the first half with some excellent saves, twice denying Andy Bishop in the first ten minutes.

The pressure is mounting on City player-manager Chris Brass to deliver the goods at Bootham Crescent, and he left the field through injury just before the half hour mark.

The hosts took the lead after the restart when Craig Gaunt brought down Lee Nogan in the box, allowing former Blackburn Rovers midfielder Darren Dunning to slot home the penalty.

City failed to create much after their goal and RMI's hard work was rewarded when Miller headed home an Alex Meechan corner after more than two minutes of time added on.
