Experienced midfielder James Olsen joined Leigh Genesis on Wednesday 8th September from Evo-Stik Premier League side Colwyn Bay, where he was part of their promotion winning side of 2009/2010.

Olsen began his career with Tranmere Rovers and also appeared in the Football League with Macclesfield Town. He also appeared in the Conference National with Southport and Altrincham, and in the Conference North with Vauxhall Motors, Barrow and Stalybridge Celtic.

Olsen's debut for Leigh came as a substitute in a breathless 4-3 FA Cup First Qualifying Round win over Rossendale United at Dark Lane on Saturday 11th September 2010, with his league debut coming three days later, again as a substitute, in a 2-1 defeat away to Warrington Town at Cantilever Park on Tuesday 14th September 2010.

Olsen made his full debut in a 2-1 Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Trophy defeat at home to neighbours Atherton Collieries on Tuesday 28th September 2010, with his full league debut arriving a week later in a 1-0 win away to Harrogate Railway Athletic on Tuesday 5th October 2010.
