Liberian-born David Gbemie joined Leigh Genesis on a free transfer 18th September 2009.

Equally at home in defence or midfield, Gbemie began his career with Bolton Wanderers and made numerous appearances in their reserve side, whilst also spending a period on loan with Burscough during the 2008/2009 season, where he played alongside current Genesis striker Jordan Stepien.

Gbemie made his Leigh Genesis debut as a right back in the 3-1 defeat to FC Halifax Town on Saturday 19th September 2009, though he completed only nineteen minutes of the game before being forced to withdraw from the game with injury.
