CHRIS THOMPSON
D.O.B. 07/02/1982
Experienced striker Chris Thompson joined Leigh Genesis on loan from Blue Square Premier outfit Barrow on 30th January 2009.
His debut arrived the following day and, despite suffering a 2-1 defeat to Worksop Town at Radcliffe Borough's Stainton Park ground, Thompson capped an impressive performance by grabbing a debut goal during the second half.
Arguably Thompson's finest hour came in a UniBond League Challenge Cup First Round tie against Warrington Town at the Leigh Sports Village Stadium on 23rd September 2009, when he scored four of his side's six goals in a 6-1 victory.
Having started his career with Liverpool, Thompson made his professional debut with Grimsby Town before joining Northwich Victoria and then Chorley, having also spent time on loan with Droylsden and Leek Town.
Sixteen Conference North goals for Scarborough during 2006/07 earned a move to Barrow, where he scored sixteen goals during their run to promotion to Blue Square Premier during 2007/08.
2008/09 saw Thompson appear for Barrow whilst also appearing twice during a loan spell back in the Blue Square North with Fleetwood Town.
After scoring fourteen goals in thirty nine appearances for the club, Tommo left Leigh on 5th February 2010 to join Bamber Bridge.
