Young forward Ross Thaker learnt his trade with League One side Oldham Athletic before spending the summer of 2008 training with the Leigh Genesis first team.
However, UniBond Premier League rivals Witton Albion swooped for the youngster and he made several appearances at Wincham Park before Genesis manager Lee Merricks secured Thaker's return to Leigh in late November 2008.
Thaker made his Leigh debut as a substitute in a 3-2 reverse away to Radcliffe Borough in the Lancashire FA Co-Operative Challenge Trophy Second Round in December 2008.
His full league debut arrived in a 2-0 defeat to Witton Albion on Boxing Day 2008 at Cantilever Park, Warrington.
After struggling to break in to the first team, Thaker left Leigh Genesis in February 2009 after making five appearances for the club, starting only three of them.
