Young Australian defener or midfielder who, having previously represented the Leigh Genesis reserve side, made his first team debut as a second half substitute in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round tie with Cammell Laird in November 2008.

Smith made his full league debut just a week later as Genesis lost 3-0 to North Ferriby United in a UniBond Premier League game played on November 8th at Hurst Cross, home of Ashton United.

Having made four senior appearances for the club, Smith left Leigh in February 2009 to join Blue Square North side Stalybridge Celtic.
