Irish striker Dean Barrett, originally from County Meath, joined Leigh Genesis on a trial basis in September 2008 after previously playing for Eircom League sides Kildare County and Longford Town in the Republic of Ireland, gaining international clearance in time to make his Genesis debut as a substitute in the 1-0 FA Cup First Qualifying Round defeat to Curzon Ashton.
