Young midfielder Reece Kelly joined Leigh Genesis in July 2008 on a free transfer following his release from League Two side Rochdale, where he had been a regular in their reserve side and on the fringes of their first team during the 2007/2008 season.

His signing represents the first of Steve Bleasdale's plan to aid the development of young players and integrate them in to the club's first team squad.

Kelly made his Leigh debut as a substitute in the 2-1 home win over Prescot Cables on 2nd September 2008 before gaining valuable first team experience in a loan spell with UniBond League Division One side Salford City.

After making just the one aforementioned substitute appearance for the club, Kelly left Leigh to join Mossley on a permanent basis in the autumn of 2008.
