Mansaram, Darren

Powerful striker Darren Mansaram joined Leigh Genesis in July 2008 on a free transfer from leading Irish Premier League side Bohemians, based in Dublin, making his Leigh Genesis debut in the 2-0 defeat at Eastwood Town on the opening day of the 2008/09 UniBond Premier League season, scoring his first goal for the club in the 3-0 win over Ashton United three days later.

Mansaram made his professional debut as a seventeen year old with Grimsby Town, going on to make more than seventy appearances for the Mariners before moving to Halifax Town after a loan spell at the Shay before spending time with York City and Tamworth.

In 2006, Mansaram took the opportunity to play in Ireland with Sligo Rovers, going on to be the club's top scorer in his first season, a feat that attracted the attention of Bohemians, where he enjoyed a successful two season spell before joining Leigh Genesis.

Mansaram was released from his Leigh Genesis contract in mid-October 2008 after struggling to manage a 160 mile daily round trip to training and leaves with the club's best wishes.
