Stepien, Jordan

Young striker Jordan Stepien joined Leigh Genesis in June 2008 on a free transfer from League Two outfit Bury, with whom he had spent a ten year period as a schoolboy and youth player before signing a professional contract prior to the 2007/08 season.

Stepien spent much of the 2007/08 season in the Conference North with Nuneaton Borough, scoring an impressive ten goals in nineteen outings during his loan spell at Liberty Way.

With his pre-season disrupted by a hamstring injury, Stepien had to wait until the third game of the 2008/09 season to make his Leigh debut, coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat to Ilkeston Town on Saturday 23rd August 2008 at Victory Park before making his full debut in the 2-0 win away to Ossett Town on Monday 25th August 2008.

Stepien scored his first goal for Leigh Genesis in the 2-1 home win over Prescot Cables on 2nd September 2008, also finding his scoring boots in his next two outings with strikes in the 2-0 win over Frickley Athletic and the 1-1 draw with Nantwich Town later that month.

Stepien earned himself a special place in the hearts of Genesis supporters when he rejected the approaches of other clubs to represent Leigh, free of charge, in their emotional FA Trophy tie with Cammell Laird in November 2008.

Unfortunately, late November 2008 saw Stepien receive an offer that he couldn't refuse, leaving Leigh to join Blue Square North outfit Burscough.
