Pestered?

Siem De Jong, revealed yesterday how Dutch duo Time Krul and Vurnon Anita, played a large part in persuading him to join Newcastle.

The player stated:

“I talked a lot with my agents and I talked to Vurnon and Tim also over the last few years sometimes about maybe coming here, and we’ve had a lot of talks with the club.

“They (Anita and Krul) have been positive about the club and told me to come and join us and play with us next season.”

“I played with Vurnon in the youth team at Ajax, so I knew him before we even went into the first team,” added De Jong.

“We were 14 when we first played against each other and then afterwards we played together

“We know each other pretty well and I talked to him sometimes about Newcastle and he texted me on Monday as well.

“And I’ve known Tim since I was 19 or 20 with the Under-21s team.

“We played together for the national side so I also know him pretty well.”

Of course it has well been stated that in the past that our French players Cabaye in particular, have been instrumental, in persuading their countrymen to come to Tyneside, so let’s hope they are frantically texting and ringing the rest of their mates, we still desperately need players.

Luuk had a big influence on him joining to.

If Krul is trying to persuade players to join the club then it shows his intentions are to still be playing here next season
