Barrow is coastal and near to a large estuary, much like Wallasey. I don't think a river runs through the town so I can't see the ground being flooded by rain. The roads to get to Barrow might be a different matter.
Matt34 There is Morecambe Bay around the Walney Island bridge and also the two main Devonshire and Buccleuch docks, that might pose a flood risk possibly.
They are tidal though. Excess river water won't cause them to flood. A storm surge and high tide might.
Anyway, we owe this lot a beating. They have conceded quite a few in some games and if we score early I'm feeling positive. 3-0 to the SWA.
I've heard that there is a pitch inspection in the morning.
Their home game was called off the other week when most of the northerly north west games were off.

Precautionary inspection at 0930hrs I've been told. Need to know before 10am if going on the train.
At the start of the season, I had this down as a win, reasoning that as a new squad settled we would have a very strong second half to the season. So much for theory!
Regardless of who we are playing our games are becoming harder to predict as in theory we are capable of beating anyone but in practice we are equally likely to lose to any team
Intuition rather than reason makes me think that we will scrape a narrow win
We will have deserved the win, had more chances more possession, some bad decisions, looked good at the back, been dangerous going forwards and scored one, they will have had two lucky break aways that should have been freekicks to us and scored two goals but we are still confident of pulling back the gap and securing promotion.

I cant get full commentary on wirral radio and Merseyside no chance so with Carlisle not playing till tmrw am hoping bbc radio cumbria will have it. just have to wait and see.
Wtf, threw the remote away, kicked the cat, switched the radio off, stormed out the room when we conceded the third. Calmed down a bit and came on to TT to view the inevitable s**t storm. And f***ing won!
Sorry puss, but you gonna have one sore @#$%& between now and May if that's what happens.

Jim Harvey done us a fav today beating Mac town. 5 points off Dover. I know we are only 4 off Eastleigh, bu they have 3 games in hand. Think 4 of the 5 are sorted, but a kick on from here could give us 5th.
Should still have Jim over GB any day, he's now unbeaten in his 7 games in charge with 5 wins and 2 draws.
Just got back (staying in Cumbria with family).....
For what it's worth the better side won. First half we looked good and I thought Tomlinson in the lone striker role was very good to be fair as was Jennings in midfield (again).
They had a late run of corners at the end of the first half but 1-0 was the fair scoreline at the break.
Second half we weren't as good but still deserved to win I felt.
I won't bring things down too much after such a great win but the less said about some elements of our support the better (not blaming the fans for the way the game went but just in general) - embarassing!
I think the frustrations with such an odd move putting Tomlinson up front was a little perplexing. First half though we fully deserved to be 1 up and maybe even 2. Although Barrow were the worst team I've seen us play for the first 60 mins . Then a dubois penalty gave them a big big lift , and we lost concentration for 20 mins. 3-1 down I must admit I saw my @#$%& and walked out the ground , loads of fans were calling for Brabins head which made us look a bit of a joke, as we didn't really back the team to the extent we normally do away with singing today, it was more like a home game in that regard. I was pleasantly supprised at the same time as being gutted to of missed the at the magic turn around at the end , we thought the score update on the sky app was @#$%& but alas it was true and we won!. I'm not so sure if we deserved a win due to the odd team choice in the attacking front. Feel Brabin would of been sacked at 3-1. But hoping this result we give us a lift and with a couple of new additions of a attacking midfielder and a striker we could and should reach the Playoffs! SWA
It's shows don't start shouting at the team and manager until AFTER the game! While in the 90 mins support the team and manager.. It's a pity our fans are so vocally abusive but hey ho
Lets put things into perspective, today we may have edged the game against a very very poor side but still concede 3 goals. Yes a fantastic comeback and was nice to see the players showing some fighting spirit for once! I still maintain my opinion that brabin must go! At 3-1 down he was a broken man! We were still tactically inept and that comes from the coaching and management. The players themselves have thrown the manager a lifeline.

Wholeheartedly disagree. He is poor yes but he cant be sackwd now wjo would take the job. 4 points off playoffs. We would be known as a sacking club no one goes to those we are stuck with him til either his contract expires or we have a sufficiently low league position I.e low bottom half. Not 4 points ofc playoffs we are the mighty tranmere we deserve....

Do the players change tactics, formation and personnel themselves? Give the team, including the manager the credit they deserved. Minus a dubious penalty, they were never getting back in that match.
Sorry that display was purely down to some dogged determination from the players! The only thing for which brabin could take credit was that he put Kirby on which was appeared mere desperation whilst 3-1 down with minutes to go. We conceded 3 goals to, in my opinion the poorest side I have seen us play. I agree that you can't sack a manager who has won 3 of the last four games, but I pay my money, I drive the miles so can have MY opinion!! I believe those players could do wonders week in week out in this league with some new direction and fresh blood from a manager who actually has some tactical awareness and the ability to field a team in a recognised formation. Norwood injured in warm up, no striker to replace him but more defenders than you can shake a stick at!!!
Give the manager credit mini_andy?????
Although I admire our never-so-die attitude for a change, this victory only papers over the cracks!
Brabin hasn't got a clue tactically, only for the players not the manager did we win.
Brabin out

I agree @gony , but not JUST cos they came through the ranks . Why not give them a run ? Twelve months or so there were banners proclaiming ` King Cole ` and then what ? We've had a succession of on loan strikers or target men ( Odejayi ) which has led to Cole being left out and ending up on loan at Southport . Now I'm not saying playing Stockton is our answer as I know he is still young and he has his critics , but surely giving him a decent run alongside Norwood would be an alternative to leaving Norwood alone and playing the route one ball . Similar argument with Jake . Young , enthusiastic and left out . Got games under his belt at Stockport , so why not give him a run ? Again , I`m not suggesting he is going to be our Saviour , but , with Dawson out and the continued frustration at Jenno , why not ? How about a 4-1-3-2 with Hill , Mcnulty , Ihiekwe , Vaughan , Maynard , Harris , Kirby ,Mekki with Stockton and Norwood . It would certainly be a more attacking formation . Just keep Maynard as the defensive midfielder and allow Harris , Kirby and Mekki to push forward . Just a thought !

Not getting back into it???? They were 3-1 up with 3 minutes to go after being 1 nil down??
I agree
Let's get real we scrapped passed Barrow for gods sake!
Hardly Tranmere Rovers of old.
The manager is not helping we are making heavy weather of this and I hope we get out of this league but Brabin is not the man for the job in my opinion.
Can we put back to back wins together and win @ Prentin Park?
Davis887 Norwood injured in warm up, no striker to replace him but more defenders than you can shake a stick at!!!
That makes the result even better then, that there were no recognised strikers and they still won.
For me Brabin is not worth sacking just now, not from a cost perspective, but just because I don't see a need for it and if the players hadn't capitulated against Kidderminster and stuck more goals away in games where they were ahead on chances, like the Woking one, they'd be in the playoffs now and maybe the Brabin out types would be virtually non-existent.
Then I ate his Liver.......... with some baked beans and a can of coke.

tranmere of old that has been relegated twice on the bounce get a grip were not famous anymore lol😂
Couple of points
Both penalties nailed on...........ref didn't see the second, neither did his assistant, must have been on the say so of the fourth official.
Hill, struggled badly on the heavier surface, and Iheweke seemed to have selected the wrong footwear - surprised that nobody has noted that Vaughan had a good game.
Sewcond half usual problem, sit back invite the opposition on, they chased the game, and benefited from a positive approach, and at 3-1 down we did the same.
Hopefully someone on the coaching staff will have noted that we are not good enough to grind out one nil wins, but we do have the ability to score goals if we look to attack.
We amy be better off trying to win the game, rather than trying to make sure we don't loose it
In terms of subs Brabin can't win with the fans. He pulls off a good one and it's lucky. He has ones that don't work out and yet it's not bad luck. Bizarre!!
Quite unbelievable from the eighty second minute onwards .People screaming ''Brabin out'' then ''Brabin in''Never seen anything like the added on time-great fighting spirit from the players.Don't think we'll ever see a finale like that again [very unlikely anyway]
We should have been out of sight at half time. Barrow must be the worst team I've seen[on both occasions] this season but we somehow contrived to be 3-1 down-you couldn't write a script for this ending.
But the most amusing part had to be explaining the goals on the train back to all those who left when it was 3-1. Boy,did I enjoy that.

Credit where credit is due. Good subs today and change in game plan when losing. We need to build on that and do it more often to show we have turned a corner not just got lucky
hong kong rover the 2 commentators on bbc radio cumbria were pretty shellshocked at the final whistle. lol.
Just been on the radio Cumbria (I player)on listen again, last 10 minutes make amusing listening, give it a go.
On the GB in GB out front, personally I just don't know. Really do think he would benefit from some assistance though, in the form of tactical advice , just to give him a hand. He does seem to have been thrown out to sea in a boat without a paddle.
With the 2 commentators on radio, they describe us as very very poor, maybe correct, but what does that say about Barrow.
Must admit when the third goal went in I thought, what do we do now!!
Great comeback in the end but, it seems every game we don't take advantage when on top. Worryingly, Norwood had a stomach problem ( not football related) and was taken to A&E, I believe.
Some of the pitches in the FA Cup were really poor due to the heavy rain(Eastleigh in particular and Exeter last night). So I was wondering what the pitch was like considering all the rain Cumbria has had recently?
Cumbria was just too far from Devon so I went with a friend who is a Bolton supporter to see the game at Eastleigh. The home team were a credit to the national and deserved to win.
What struck me.however was that although there were brief anti Lennon chants around substitutions, almost all the time the support for the team was positive and loud, albeit that Bolton were poor and the attitude of some players was questionable.
There is a place for criticism and critique of the team, manager, club etc, but not through the baying of a mob that too often seem to take real pleasure in aggression and hostility rather than support for the club. I honestly do feel that we have a disproportionate number in this group
I'm sure if Bolton had been at home, the atmosphere would have been a lot more hostile. You only have to look a Blackpool last season when the couldn't complete the last match due to the fans invading he pitch. We all have them.or should I say we all have them when things are going bad and then they disappear when it goes well. Fact of life, yesterday show how boos go to cheers as if by magic in a millisecond.
so 3 wins out of 4 now but still not getting to carried away with the fact that many teams around us have games in hand. braintree now 5 games in hand of us.

this is probably the reason they will fall away fixture pile up

Why didn't the fans getting on their back lose them the game as is the easy get out clause for many. Miraculously it "inspired" them to win the game. The logic of this argument should now be buried once and for all. Getting bored with the fan bashing as it's players and managers that win and lose games with occasional supports from match officials. Thinking we are somehow unique in this department is foolhardy; take a look at the Barrow forum if you want some evidence of this. If we get promoted it will be down to the players and manager; if we don't it will be the fans fault!! Let's find another scapegoat.
just seen the goals on you tube , plus post match interviews with brabin and Kirby. also a clip of a small group of rovers fans arriving back at lime street, singing their heads off. their penalty looked a joke.

Totally agree phil65. That's the point, you just can't try and blame the fans, and I don't for 1 second think our fans are any different to that of any other club.
Fan bashing just seams to be the easy option when they want to turn a blind eye to the real issues on and off the park.

My original post never suggested that the fans had an impact on the result either way. My point is that away support is usually different from home support as the percentage of committed supporters is usually higher than at home. Our away group reflect that pattern but we do include more negative/aggressive supporters than that of most clubs. Totally value passion but not the aggressiveness/hatred that is shown by some even towards Rovers players and staff Personally, I enjoy it when part of a crowd that backs the team during a game. Too often some of our travelling supporters can be an embarrassment
Just watched on you tube and noticed the players appeared to celebrate the goals amongst themselves and not to the fans. Was this the case or did YouTube only show me some of it? If it is the case it shows a lack of a bond between us which is worrying.
Also read in the Echo that Mr. Brabin bit back at fans who were giving abuse in the Echo, for the first time.
Not that we we should be taking the gloss of our best comeback since Southampton.
Deadly Submarine Is not unique though. Wrexham fans I know are sick of their idiot element too even at away games.
The longer people defend this behaviour the worse it will get.
At the other end of the spectrum is those who have "blind faith". History has proven that this is unhealthy to say the least. The same derogatory terms could be applied to those in this category by those who choose to debase the debate. Me, I'm happy sitting on the fence with splinters in my @#$%& but having the freedom of thought to be critical or praise when I feel the need arises. The point was fans being blamed for results (only defeats mind you). Here's to Bromley and more divided opinion!
No one has ever blamed fans for defeats. No one has ever said that fans can't express their dissatisfaction at games when we aren't playing well.
What has been said is that a minority of fans are extremely quick to express their dissatisfaction (at the first misplaced pass, scuffed shot, etc.). Others are downright abusive and single players out for personal criticism. If they did this out on a Saturday night they'd end up in hospital, but they seem to think this is acceptable because the people they abuse happen to play football. This doesn't happen everywhere and isn't normal.
Taken together this produces an atmosphere that inhibits the team and turns our home advantage into a disadvantage at times. Is it a massive disadvantage? No, probably not, but in a game where there are small margins between victory and defeat it doesn't help us.
I also wasn't passing blame to the Fans for defeats or whatever else purely their embarrassing behaviour which is degrading the Club in a number of ways.

Doogie's Ghost, your second two paragraphs are reasonable statements. With regards to the first paragraph then a little more research is required as it has been more than implied that fans have cost us games in previous threads and this seems to be alluded to on a regular basis. I have never condoned the out and out abuse that you refer to but just disagree with the argument that this and milder negativity is the reason we have not won more games.

Yes you're right, we are and possibly they do. I think however for one of the goals [possibly the third] Hill had two of them coming at him at once with no real cover.
Did you tell your wife that because you couldn't go,you missed one of those rare ''I was there when....'' moments? Or for those who left when it was three one ''I was there but I wasn't''

Our comeback seems to have got plenty of coverage on social media both here and abroad. This is the English translation of a German website Online Kicker:-
1766 spectators in Barrow-in-Furness could not believe their eyes: In fifth league match between AFC Barrow and Tranmere Rovers has occurred on Saturday at a memorable comeback - with consequences for Tranmeres follower numbers.
In the final minute Lois Maynard shortened from a distance to 2: 3, before the five-minute stoppage time broke - and with it the madness: Jeff Hughes umkurvte Barrows keeper to 3: 3 (90 + 2), substitute Jake Kirby met with a deflected it's 4: 3 (90 + 5). The sensational comeback was perfect.
And Tranmeres Twitter channel you noted soon that something special had happened. By evening, the number of followers had grown to a whopping 28,000. Trainer Gary Brabin processed the events more sober: He spoke of a "deserved victory".
Mainly Tranmeres Twitter page put it out there unfortunately , would of had much more coverage of we were a league side... Oh well ... Maybe next season with any luck !
Living in Swindon, it was nice to hear all my Swindon supporting mates congratulating me on a great come back at a party today. I took the compliments like I scored all 3 goals.
(I also returned the compliment as they came from 2-0 down to win 4-2. But not in 5 minutes!)

For those who were there, I know you probably wouldn't notice in the bedlam. But what was the formation for the last 10 minutes? Did we just have a lone man up front or was it a bit of a 5-5-0 with a pushing midfield?
