A place for fans of both Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City to discuss Saturday afternoon's upcoming match at Sincil Bank......
Following a two week break for Rovers as the National League made way for the FA Cup, our match discussion thread returns once again as Rovers prepare to travel to Lincoln City on Saturday afternoon in the National League. Despite the break from action, Tranmere are going into the game having lost at home to Dover in their last match and will also be looking to avenge the Imps fortunate 2-0 win over Rovers in the FA Cup Fourth Qualifying Round Replay just a few weeks ago at Sincil Bank.
Whether you are unable to make the game for any reason, or even if you are attending, this is the place to discuss all the pre-match build up including team line-up and score predictions, events during the match itself as well as all the post match fall-out and analysis. The thread is open to fans of both sides to discuss the events surrounding the game so if you haven't got a Message Forum accounts yet then why not sign up now?

we sure need a win. a draw will be just about acceptable. defeat, then i think that will prove that we are not going to be good or consistent enough to go up ( hope i am proved wrong.) i reckon a battling and deserved 1~0 win for the rovers.
We deserve a win and as long as we come away with the 3 points I don't care who plays, what we look like or how we score (personally I'd favour a Rhead own goal, or two, followed by him being sent off for ham acting).
It will be sweet revenge if we can win this game, the one that really matters to both teams.
There has been a lot of rumbling about current form and where we are going but I think as long as we are still in touch after the Christmas period we will be OK. If we can then have our run of form while those around us start to falter (it is inevitable, all teams will have good and bad patches) then we will end up where we want to be come May.
Sounds like the same problem at the start of the season with too much going down the middle, but this time it's too many strikers instead of centre midfielders.
Width is what got us into the top six and the absence of it seems to be costing us.
Getting shut is probably still not the right answer but we have to play an effectIve system and not just all the big names.
Width and 4-4-2 is the only way with wide midfielders instead of strikers.
Are we guilty of trying to fit players into the team rather than playing the best team. Can we play Mangan, Norwood, Taylor-fletcher at the same time. Need to make some tough decisions on team selection
Worse goal scoring record in the league now I think. Braintree were below us but as they managed to score a pitiful six today think they may have leapfrogged us? You don't need to be a rocket scientist to work out why we're not winning games!! Mid table at best for us this season folks and then another clear out and we can start all over again!!! Very poor.
2 weeks, having played them twice and seem them get beaten by a team from the league below and we still can't beat Lincoln. Sorry Brabin, your times up.
Higgosboots Waiting for the Brabin excuse this evening, virtually a full squad and two weeks off to work with the players, not good
Brabin will most likely say because Lincoln played 3 games in the last six days they we're more prepared for it than us because we've had a two week lay off.
Have to admit it doesn't bode well especially playing them x3 times. You would think we would of known how to get a result. If we dont get a decent performance next sat and a win, then i guess the tables might turn against Brabin....
The top five teams won today all high scoring games. We are not going to finish in the play offs we are not good enough. Gary Brabin will keep us in this league there is no doubt about that. For us to improve there has to be big changes and that is down to Mark Palios. I think this season we will survive in this league even with Mr Brabin as manager.
There has been evidence they he knows what to do by bringing Dawson in and playing Mekki, so all is not lost!
But when everyone is fit and available, he needs to deliver and the team needs to start winning again.
And Jennings does need dropping.
Deadly Submarine Better side for an hour but still can't score. Mangan anonymous, Jennings awful, Tomlinson awful even Harris failed to show.
This is my only contribution tonight or I'll end up getting into stupid arguments!
Hard to say who wasn't anonymous. We were poor for the first 55 minutes and they were worse. After that we were the much worse of two poor teams-the conditions didn't help but it was the same for both teams.AND it wasn't the ref's fault either.

It beats me why he only used one sub[Mekki] today.Hogan,Ridehalgh and Margetts could not have been much worse than any of those who started the game.
We saw last week against a conference south side that the Lincoln defence is poor yet in 3 games against them we fail to score. Arguments about how long we were on top for are irrelevant aginst that fact. On the face of it, the temptation is to say its the forwards that are the problem when 13 attempts fail to produce a a goal. But so many of those shots were from outside the box that you have to wonder both about our creativity and our capacity to get around the back of a defence. Dawson is a big miss and Tomlinson looks like the sort of rubbish we were bringing in over the last two seasons. We have had injuries but so have other clubs that are doing far better.
We seem to have areal capacity to lose or drop points to mediocre teams like Barrow, Kiddiminster etc.
Nor is a defence faultless. I am not convinced that the central pairing is anywhere near mobile enough and yet Hogan seems to have been marginalised

I think we are just waiting to get Hogan back to fitness after his op ,am assuming Riley will then drop to the bench.
TranmereFan Think we have a common issue at Tranmere of being "the better team" but we always seem to get relegated . Odd that.
I wouldn't say so! I can count on just one hand the amount of times last season that we were the better team!
And the season before Sub! There is clearly an issue with the amount of goals we are scoring. It's been there all season. Defensively we are sound. Sure we make mistakes and concede goals here and there but not at a level that we should be concerned about.
We are in every game we play, we just aren't getting the results at the moment. If we had scored an extra 10 goals so far this season we're probably top of the league. An extra 5 goals and we're comfortably in the playoff spots.
We don't seem to know how best to attack the opposition, or we haven't got the right players. Whatever forward pairing we use they aren't working properly together and I'm not sure that the supply to them is right either. Brabin needs to pick a pairing that work and stick to it then make sure that we provide the right balls into them. If he sorts that out we will score goals and climb the table.
from yesterdays game we looked like a team that should be up there, we tried and tried and we tried again many of half chances one cleared off the line then we hit the 60th minute and it was as if the players sort of said weve tried but we have failed, which made the last 30mins hard to watch BUT those who question mcnulty yesterday i feel he was man of the match for us he read everything perfectly intercepted well was brilliant, the ref had an ok game the only thing i will criticise him on was when mangan got clean through and the defender appeared to just run into him rather than to the ball which was going the other direction so for me should have been a free kick and a red card but some times they go for you other times they dont there were a lot of half chances the highlights on the youtube dont lie the only highlights missed is the the goal line clearance you can see from them highlights half chances win games Lincoln took there one we couldnt take any of our 5 but hopefully i truly think if we had grabbed the first goal yesterday we would have gone on to win the game people who are blaming brabin i feel they need to realise he can only prepare the team, if they think yesterday was an unprepared team they need to go the club shop and buy match dvds of the last 2 1/2 years because thats what an unprepared team looks like other than go one the pitch and put the half chances away himself hes not done much wrong
Jade, the squad is Brabin's and they are not getting the results and that's down to the manager. When Dawson got injured we needed a genuine winger to replace him so we get another striker, the squad is not balanced too many centre halves & strikers yet only 3 centre midfielders and no right backs.
Weve had a break of 2 weeks without a game to try to get things right yet lose and fail to score again
to be fair we all saying no right backs i know from his wolves days at youth level he played right back for them over centre back so to say he should be considered a right back by now also he has played there for 18 months for us so its not really an excuse to be honest, as for midfield i total agree we only have dawson mekki jackson and tomilson for wingers with only dawson being any good.
as for the squad being brabins yes it is but as i said in my previous post we turn up we actually look prepared we look for the majority of most games like there is only going to be one winner and its often us, but its not the managers fault if players cant take half chances.
Yesterday, once again we failed to force the keeper into a save. Lost count of the number of chances our star signing has had, yet can't hit the target - he should be getting as much criticism as Jennings.
Have to agree, however, being sat level with half way that the lad should have been sent off for the challenge on Mangan, actually wrapped both arms around him at the same time

What about Harris' shot just before the goal that the keeper pushed out just wide of the onrushing Jennings?
Lincoln fan in peace. Obviously you are disappointed with the result but if you really did dominate the first 55 minutes (and I did not see the game) our goalkeeper Paul has said: "Great win, as it turned out pretty easy game for me."
PS: I've seen our goal. Waterfall read that ball in brilliantly (my opinion only) but he was completely unmarked to begin the run in to it. If all defences didn't make mistakes like that (all clubs) they wouldn't be playing in the League Of Hell would they?
