After Rovers finally ended a dismal five game losing streak last night by beating Cambridge United 2-1 away from home, we are asking you to vote for you Tranmere Man of the Match from the game as part of our post-match poll series.
After showing slight signs of improvement at Northampton on Saturday but ultimately falling to the same depressing outcome, Rovers came out looking much sharper, keener and above all quicker than their hosts and despite a handful of chances it was just before half-time before Max Power broke the deadlock, smashin the ball under the U's keeper to hand Rovers the half time advantage.
Rovers began the second half in much the same way but one slack piece of collective defending allowed Cambridge to score a brilliant equaliser as the space just opened up in front of Sullay Kaikai and he finished well from distance. However, it was Rovers who were to have the final say when great work by Odejayi and then Myrie-Williams set up a chance for Danny Gardner who coolly steadied himself and the ball and fired home in front of the Superwhite Army!
Tranmere hung on with ten men for the final eleven minutes after Steven Jennings received a second yellow card to record a vital three points in the race to avoid relegation from the Football League.
