Depends on how many changes M.A makes again.

He threw the gauntlet down and challenged his fringe players to show him what they can do, so I expect another changed team for this one, which in turn unsettles an already poor side, even at home.

Difficult to call this one until the team is announced tomorrow.

I'd just be happy to avoid defeat we've got a shocking home record and the away games seem more appealing! Lost 1-0 to the new saints in a behind doors friendly doesn't appear the fringe lads did much to impress so agree with what's been said I'll be more hopeful once I've seen the team sheet.

I hope he changes formation and rests Holness.
We need to be tough and strong, a battle we need desperately to win!

Cracking result, at long last! New signings all performed very well, got to get that striker on a longer deal. Any news on the injury ? Sounded awful

Not all results went our way Daggers won away against Bury could have done with them getting beat by Bury today still can't win them all smiling smiley, mind you that's been our trouble all season.

I was concerned when Holness came on but my fears were unfounded. He was played in the middle of the back three rather than on one side like last week. That made a huge difference IMO and he had easily his best game so far for us.

Excellent result and vastly improved performance-joy unconfined at the end. The winless league run is finally over. Let's hope it's the start of much better things.

I have always liked James Rowe and been puzzled why he has never been given more of a chance. His superb goal today was indeed a game changing moment-it could even be a season changing moment. Let's hope so.

Going forward Rowe is excellent.
He does need to be far more committed defensively, sub was stripped off just before his goal, but then sat back down.
Also MA gave him a couple of huge rollockings in the first half when he messed up a back pass, and secondly gave away the free kick just before half time (only time I recall him out of the dugout).
If he improves that part of the game, he will be a guaranteed starter............but he does need to close down his man, rather than just standing off. Oh and his passes are far better than his flicks

Adams was right to give him one of the rollockings when Rowe and Ridehalgh collectively made an unnecessary cockup in one situation in the first half which could have proved costly.

Regarding Adams' movement from the dug out[or lack of it],I was somewhat surprised to see no movement from either him or Shuker in the minutes after Portsmouth had equalised when we were under the cosh.

Then of course, the aforementioned Mr Rowe came up with his wonderful game changing moment to save everybody's bacon.

Pity York had to get a late equaliser as I understand it, as it was in the last minute of extra time, otherwise a win next time could have seen Tranmere leapfrog them if they lose their next league game, however they'll stay a point clear at least, but at least Carlisle are within striking distance now.

I was hoping that Madjo might have got 10-15 minutes to stretch his legs as he was on the bench, but 3 goals in a match and plenty of on target shots, reflect a great performance, as in the past, several games have yielded chances but limited accuracy, causing limited goals, but a lot of accuracy today yielded a great result, but Wallace was always going to be a threat and I'm glad the team responded well to his equaliser.

Hopefully they don't let it get to their heads and act over-confidently in the cup, as a couple of cup matches coming up could build form and bode well for the next league game, but complacency could lead to so-so form.

Just say I'm made up for everyone that we won!
I'm still worried about Fonners, Holness and Stockton, thought Odejayi should have come on earlier!
We were nervous after Aimson went off. Hope he recovers quickly.

Amazing how things can look different from various ''viewpoints''

BBC description of Rowe's goal:-

Goal! Tranmere Rovers 2, Portsmouth 1. James Rowe (Tranmere Rovers) right footed shot from very close range to the centre of the goal.

Agreed. This could limit or end his career and that would be devastating for him and hopefully he will recover quickly.

We were nervous from the very start[hardly surprising due to our position]-it was no different after Aimson went off.
