With the season now approaching its final stages as the busy Easter period draws near, a sixth edition of the season of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ is now available to purchase and as ever it is well worth a read for any keen Rovers fan who likes to read differing views on the current fortunes of Rovers.

The front cover of the latest issue, which first went on sale at the midweek away game against Rochdale last Tuesday, features a picture of returning first team Manager Ronnie Moore. Away from the usual images of Rovers recent away trips and related post-match quotes on the inside of the front cover, there is instead a spoof film advert which takes the proverbial out of a certain out-of-form Liverpool striker.

After the usual editorial piece from ‘The Doctor’ which takes stock of the recent change of Manager and the possible areas that are to blame, the first of four of the regular ‘Away Days’ articles covers the 2-1 away defeat at Bournemouth in mid-January whilst other away games covered in this issue are those at Wycombe, Carlisle and Oldham.

Continuing the series featured in all five of this season's three previous issues, there is another interesting feature from Tony Coombes about old away grounds and away sections that have been consigned to history with this issue looking at Chester’s Sealand Road ground and a much larger feature on a pre-season trip for Tranmere in 1995 to Falkirk in Scotland. There is also the usual Anorak Quiz asking you to identify five football grounds from the pictures shown along with the answers from the last edition.

Regular columnists Deadly Submarine, ‘The Jones Journal’ and the ‘Ridgway Report’ are in evidence once more in this issue with The Jones Journal giving an in depth look at Rovers matches since the home game against Huddersfield Town and the Ridgway Report taking a fantastic look back at the top ten Tranmere matches during Ronnie Moore’s last spell in charge at the Club to stir up some great memories.

Total Tranmere's Deadly Submarine also looks at the recent managerial changes as well as the recent celebrations of 100 years of Prenton Park and once again updates supporters on the fortunes of fans football team Total Tranmere FC.

It’s fair to say that this edition of GUAR is not for the ardent ‘Parry Out’ person as there are several highly critical articles which are less than kind to some sections of the Rovers support. These include contributions by Mark J and Al Ergy which condemn the recent actions of some of the Rovers support.

The regular 'V for Vendetta' feature this time looks at our old friends from Notts County following their recent visit to Prenton Park under a new manager whilst there is also a review of a football book called ‘Bamboo Goalposts’.  There is also an article by Percy Cuted about Rovers’ need for a goalscoring striker and ones we’ve had in years gone by.

On the inside back cover, the ‘Yesterday's Heroes' features a full colour photo of Rovers midfielder Mark Hughes to round off another interesting issue of ‘Give Us an R’.

Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games. Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try?

Dave will be selling the latest issue at the upcoming home game against Exeter City as well at the away game at Bury (31st March).  The fanzine will most likely remain on sale for a number of games after that as well.
