Latest Edition of Fanzine 'Give Us an R' Out Now!

The latest edition of the Tranmere Fanzine 'Give Us An R' is now available to purchase before the upcoming Tranmere games both home and away and is once again an excellent read....
With the one third point of the football season very nearly upon us already, there is now a third edition of the season of the excellent Rovers Fanzine ‘Give Us an R’ available to purchase and as ever it is well worth a read for any keen Rovers fan who likes to read differing views on the current fortunes of Rovers.
The front cover of the latest issue, which first went on sale at the home game against Oldham ten days ago, features arguably one of Tranmere's best and certainly most consistent performers in the shape of Welsh goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams, taken during a recent Rovers home game. The inside of the front cover features images of Rovers away support at both Huddersfield and Preston as well as a match image from each game and quotes from after the game by Les Parry and Owain Fon Williams.
After the usual editorial piece from ‘The Doctor’ which gives an analysis of the start to the season so far as well as a a quick look at the ongoing TV rights debate, the first of four ‘Away Days’ articles covers the visit to Huddersfield Town in League One which Rovers lost 2-0 whilst other away games covered in this issue are those at Preston North End and Accrington Stanley (Part 1).
Once again and continuing from this season's two previous issues, there is another interesting feature from Tony Coombes about old away grounds and away sections that have become history as time has moved on, this time looking at Swansea City and Bradford City. There is also the usual Anorak Quiz asking you to identify five football grounds from the pictures shown along with the answers from the last edition.
Regular columnists Deadly Submarine, ‘The Jones Journal’ the ‘Ridgway Report’ are in evidence once more in this issue whilst there is a re-appearance of the 'V for Vendetta' feature seen in the last issue. Last time out it focussed on the cheating antics of Notts County and this time around concentrates on more cheating, this time by Neil Mellor.
The Toys 'r' Us feature which looks at a toy from a certain point in history coupled with how Rovers were doing at that particular time this week looks at Buckaroo and 1970's support of Tranmere. Other funny features in this issue include a page of jokes about Everton, Carlos Tevez and many more as well as two 'Separated at Birth' lookalike offerings.
Finally, other features include at look at the 'When Saturday Comes' Messageboard by Tristan Browning whilst the 'In Black and White' look at Tranmere in the press features Manchester United's fanzine and When Saturday Comes.
On the inside back cover, the ‘Yesterday's Heroes' features a full colour photo of Steve Vickers to round off another interesting issue of ‘Give Us an R’.
Priced at just £2.00, Give Us an R is is well worth a read and can be purchased at all Rovers games. Dave can be found selling the mag outside the visitor's turnstiles at all away games and for home games is usually standing on the patch of wasteground alongside the entrance to the Main Club Car Park (under the sign advertising the next three home matches at Prenton Park) so if you have never purchase it before why not give it a try?
Dave will be selling the latest issue at the upcoming away games at Hartlepool and Scunthorpe as well at the home game against Colchester United and probably other games thereafter.
