Tranmere Rovers complete the signing of Scott Wootton on loan from Manchester United

Tranmere Rovers have today signed centre back Scott Wootton from Manchester United on a one-month loan deal.

Birkenhead born Wootton joins Rovers after the departure of centre-back Jermaine Grandison, who pulled his hamstring against Bristol Rovers on Tuesday and has returned to his parent club, Coventry City.

The 19-year old was with Tranmere's academy until six years ago, when he joined Liverpool and was then snapped up by Manchester United aged 16.

Captain of The Red Devils' U18 team last season, Wootton, who is highly rated at Old Trafford, has been a regular for the clubs reserve side this season.

A one-month loan deal for the centre-back allows him to gain first team experience for the first time and will hopefully help Tranmere in picking up some more clean sheets over the coming month.

Wootton goes straight into Tranmere's squad to face Brighton and Hove Albion at Prenton Park this Saturday, whilst Rovers also have the option to extend his loan deal by a further two months.

OK, this sounds like another step in the right direction.
Lets hope the win at Brizzle and this lean signing are the start or an upturn in fortunes!

He started out with us untill we sold him to liverpool at 13! He then left liverpool at 16 for a guaranteed pro deal after he completed his scholarship at Old Trafford. Sounds like a promising player, captain of the England U18 side, hopefully if he does well his loan will be extended, the longest is another 2 months which takes us to the end of December and then we can bring him back in January for the rest of the season

I'll agree with you there Kingsholm, there's not an ounce of fat on the Lad. Good job Les not getting any fat, sluggish players

Actually I think the lad will be good, so hopefully it works out.
