Weather Report

A warm and dry day in Essex with the pre-match weather especially being sunny and very warm as the Rovers fans arrived at the Ground by various methods ranging from Car to Train to Club Coach.

Crowd

2,256 fans were inside The London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Stadium for their first home league game since promotion to League One last season via the play-offs with 265 Rovers fans making the trip - for the first time for many of them.

Referee Watch

Keith Stroud - A quiet day for the referee who had very little controversy to deal with and only had the need to book two players on the day.

Best Moment

After a dismal 80 minutes the equalising goal was I suppose well worth waiting for in the end - how we managed it though I will never know but Cresswell's strike was genius!

Worst Moment

The whole of the first 80 minutes were a nightmare but the goal for the home side when it came confirmed what we had feared for the rest of the game - a difficult afternoon was on the cards for Les Parry's men.

Tranmere Man of the Match

Maxime Blanchard - Blanchard performed well both at centre-back initially and then when he moved to midfield followingPaul McLaren's early withdrawal on the half hour mark.  Blanchard looks a great addition to the Rovers squad at this early stage.

Connections

There were no links between members of the two playing squads for this game for the first ever League meeting of the sides.

Rovers Fans

Reports from around the far home section of the tight ground suggest they thought Rovers fans were very loud and sitting in the away end that doesn't come as any surprise as the singing was excellent despite the poor performance.

Dagenham Fans

Pretty quiet during the game but there was some banter in the away end between the Rovers fans and the adjacent Dagenham junior team players which made for some good atmosphere.

Summary

A terrible game for Rovers which waited 80 minutes to brighten up but when it did the reversal of fortunes was both dramatic and quick.  The change of formation paid dividends and needs serious consideration in future games.

Entertainment Value

Very poor for the first 80 minutes but the last ten minutes almost made it worthwhile in the end! (Almost!!)

Not to be rude, but you've posted something about Nick Wood giving the Bournemouth keeper the eyeball, in a summary about the Dagenham game. Not sure if you intended that or not.

Forgot to take that section out as it was a rushed job.

I will amend later unless Mikey or Matt see this and get there first.

Thanks
