HEADERNEW - matchdiscussion

Copyright Historical Football Kits and reproduced by kind permission.

For those fans who can't make some of the Rovers games this season, particularly the high number of costly and time consuming southern away games, we at Total Tranmere will be providing a Match Discussion Thread on the Site for every Rovers game.

The thread will allow you to discuss everything from the pre-match build up and starting line-up to the game it as it progresses and the post-match anaylsis.

Stadium - Tranmere Rovers (Day)

Where possible, Total Tranmere staff will post up the starting line-up and substitutes on the thread as soon as it is made known at the game.

Tranmere of course host Bournemouth in N Power League One on Saturday afternoon for their second home League match of the season, so if you're not going to the game why not join in the banter right here while the game is going on.

Maybe if you have a friend or family member texting you from the game you can post their views here for others to see as the game progresses.

You could also use this thread to discuss other interesting scores throughout the league as well as discussing this game afterwards if you have been along to the game.

What you discuss below is up to you but hopefully it can all be focused on one thread to make it easier for everyone to use.

Admin staff will try and add the team and updates on the game onthis thread where possible but these details are updated also on our Twitter Page throughout the game so if you're not following us already why not do so at www.twitter.com/totaltranmere.

Today was an absolute shambles. Embarrasing and clueless would be best to describe us. There are so many things wrong it is hard to know where to start.

I will start with the formation. I am sorry Les but 433 is a joke and needs to be dropped. They had really quick wingers and our full backs were so exposed it was unreal. Darville and Cresswell were awful, diving in all the time and showing complete naivety. Wood was also shocking, getting completely outdone for the lead up to the penalty, and just generally looking terrible the whole way through.

Going forward we were the usual. Don't create anything, slow, no ideas. Enoch actually did ok but is still worse than Bas for me. Gornell was his usual awful self and Thomas Moore looked like a man who didn't want to be there.

As far as I am concerned Les has to take a lot of the blame. The guy is NOT a manager. He has no idea of tactics or anything. I mean we tried a free kick in the second half that obviously has been worked on in training but went straight out of play.

People can have a go at me, saying get behind the team blah blah. I do, I have paid for a season ticket and go to a lot of away games but what I have just seen is a joke. Les has no clue, he has signed players that looked ok in friendlies on trial, they are not good enough.

For me we are doomed unless Les starts to realise you sometimes have to change thigs instead of playing the same players in a 433 every week, or he goes and we get a manager in. I am disgusted with that today, some of the worst performances I have seen from Tranmere have been when he was in charge, and I will add today to that.

Oh and Ian Moore went mad down the tunnel when he went off. I don't think the players have much respect for Les, and no wonder.

NO, ITS WORSE.SACK PARRY NOW WHILE THE SEASON HAS ONLY JUST STARTED. HE HAS'NT A CLUE.NO GAME PLAN,NO TACTICS, NO SYSTEM, JUST A BIG PUNT UP FIELD TO OUR ONLY STRIKER.THE YOUNG LADS AT THE CLUB ARE HALF DECENT, BUT NEED GUIDING AND DIRECTION.PARRY CAN'T DO THAT.IT LOOKS LIKE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THIER ROLE IS.1 POINT FROM 9. I'm so mad it's not funny. I don't know what's up with us but we are so poor it's not funny. They was a poor side that ran rings around us. The crowed s poor, the players are poor, and so is Les..............................

It is a shame because Les was a legend in everybodys eyes, but if he carries on like this he will start to be hated. He can't coah players, and plays strikers out wide.

I mean do you think an experienced professional is going to listen to him and respect him? Knowing he is really just a physio. Ian Moore must surely be on his way out, judging by his reaction today he can't go quickly enough.

The pre season was a shambles, a lot like last year. I am sorry Les but you need to assess right now if you are the man for the job. I don't think you are and if you carry on you will take us down.

After watching, and grimacing, for three of the opening four games, I have come to a conclusion: Nick Wood has not got a clue!

Ian Goodison hates the lad, you can see that. He's always screaming at him, and rightly so!

Woods positioning was atrocious, his vision virtually non-existent.

For the first goal, the lazy ba****d just WALKED slowly back from the edge of the Bournemouth area, as one long, flat ball bisected where he should have been, into the bath of McQouid, who slotted past Collister.

For the second goal, he put in a half-hearted aerial challenge, and then turned and turned, leaving Goody exposed, thus leading to the penalty!

For the third goal, I haven't a clue where he was!

How on earth is that lad a professional footballer? Seriously, how?

It is even worse when we've got Blanchard on the bench, who looks a very decent player.

Why doesn't Les make a change!

As a result of constantly being exposed on the right hand side (i.e. where Wood should have been...), Collister lost confidence.

The lad doesn't communicate; he doesn't have a clue;

I see everyone has been blamed apart from the main main. They spent 100,000 on a player the other day. Our chairman expects us to improve our squad on 2nd rate trialist and 18 year olds.

With no money - no good players - have to play players out of position - poor performances - relegation

Yeah wood was awful and I thought even in the friendly he scored in he was poor. The fact is Les has signed players that are not up to it, and if that wasn't bad enough he plays a system that clearly doesen't suit them. Time to go physio!

That post is really not needed and is pretty pointless in my opinion.

The first ten minutes of play today were great and it was their quickfire double that seemed to give us a sucker punch that we couldn't bounce back from which was a shame. In his programme notes ITM claimed that we need some older heads in the team to help the youngsters out and I fully agree with him. The youngsters are all very naive and lacking in confidence. The right side of our team frightens the life out of me as well because bar a few good challenges I don't think Darville really knows what's going on and Terry Gornell is nothing short of abysmal!

I think we do need to revert back to 4-4-2 because it is a bit more solid and we need a bit more stability in the side.

All in all I do think this season will bring better things, especially when we get Ash and Broomes back in the side as they are more experienced than the likes of wood, darville and gornell, but it's definitely not the time to give up or to call for les's head!

21/08/2010 18:25
It is all well and good saying we will be alright when Taylor and Broomes come back but that isn't good enough. Taylor isn't back until christmas, we could be well adrift by then.

You may say it is too early to Call for the managers head but I don't think so. Two home defeats already and 5 conceded. We are second bottom already and have some really tough games coming up. By the end of next month we could be in a similar poistion to last year, chasing and playing catch up. I think Les really needs to consider of he is up to this.

no money = we had 3 defenders under 20 today?

that said thought they were a very good side as shown by them dusting peterborough 5-1 last week.

Yes we have got no money but is that the reason for Les playing completely the wrong system? Or not having a clue about tactics? He signed players too late, and is being shown up by managers who actually know what they are doing.

Burrows
Mikey
21/08/2010 19:43
The wrong system? This was the system that changed us last season, kept us up, stopped us from conceeding 3+ goals per match (yes that happened today but see cadburygorilla post)

Not having a clue about tactics? Were you 10 minutes late to todays game? We were by far the better team, then they broke and scored and the lads heads went down, for a manager its hard to change that from the side lines.

Anyway onto half time, your main issue with Les last year was tactical stubborness and subsitutions not being made. Today he changed to 4-4-2 at half time and made a sub and again we started the better team. We conceeded and what happened? Their heads went down. Why? They are a young inexperienced side and their captain hardly set an example today did he.

Signing players later into pre-season seems to be the way football is going, everything is money orientated now, we don't have money. I suppose Ian Holloway is a **** manager too because he never signed anyone until he was into August?

Come on...

Today was terrible in parts but you'd be on here having a go exactly the same had we won 12-0 anyway so its hard to take your posts serious at times.

I have just seen nearly eleven headless chickens in white chasing a non existing ball they had to chase that because Bounemouth had the real one.
Every time they(Bournemouth) sent the long ball up there were three or more of their players of the blocks chasing the ball and playing it to their own feet 3-0 it could have been 5-0 . As for McLaren was does he do apart from getting his kit dirty(some how?).Why not try Max Blanchard in for McLaren or even Nick Wood and were`s our Zoom( Zoma Bakayogo)
on the bench should be on from the start.
It seem`s this may be an other long season I hope am I wrong
fortress Prenton Park Les quoted whathe wanted it to be again
looks like the walls are beginning to fall in.
It`s a midfielder a striker that scores goals to assist ITM up front and ITM did not seem to be in it today the quickest move he did today was once he left the field was to get into his car and leave Prenton Park well before the game finished could this mean he`s played his last game for the Rovers

I am sorry Mikey you are the clueless one. You are seriously defending that performance, it was only bad 'in parts'. What on earth are you talking about? Yes ok we started brightly but we concede and that is it. Don't give me this rubbish about heads going down, they should have a bit of backbone and show some character. Just because they are young you are telling me they feel at 1-0 down it is game over. Not having that.

Most people agree that 433 has to go yet you seem to think it is ok. He should have seen before the game that they had fast wingers, and our full backs may be exposed becasue of the 433. It may have worked last season at times but has to be dropped. I mean it just doesen't work, we hoof it and Enoch either heads it onto to nobody or chases it himself.

He is a joker and a physio, I honestly don't think the players take him seriously at all. He should have stepped down after the Stockport game.

I said we played well the first 10 mins of both halves and yes apart from that it was terrible.

DO I believe its down to 4-3-3? No, do I think 4-3-3 is the best formatio at this moment? Yes (I'd like to see 4-4-2 but with this squad the best formation is 4-3-3, we have no wingers.)

4-3-3 works when the strikers aren't all lazy.

And their heads did go down you could tell that, yet you insist on blaming Les for that? He had clearly gee'd them up at HT, they started better then we conceeded. Unless he sets them all up with head sets he can't talk them through the game can he? Should their heads go down after 1-0? No, but they are all young, inexperienced. Their were only three players out their today older than 28, one is the captain who wants out and performed terribly today, McLaren hardly sets an example, their is only Goodison with experience for them to look up too.

You are more of a joker than Les, have you ever came on this site after we've won?

Under Little, Moore, Barnes and Les, after every defeat you are on here constantly moaning, I think about 0.1% of your posts contain some positivity.

Why would he step down after keeping us up in the way he did.

I am sure you can find many of my posts have actually been after wins, if you check you will see. Yes I am pessimisstic most of the time but that is the way I am.

I don't go to games with the intention of booing the players, infact I support them and save whatever I think for here. But that today was a joke, and if you think we played well in the first 10 minutes of each half it is worrying. We didn't create a chance in that time, we just corssed a few aimless balls in. I mean it is getting to the stage where the fans are clapping a move that completely breaks down, just because we are in their half.

Something has to change, and for me if it is not the manager it has to be the formation. We don't score enough. Didn't he say he wanted a midfielder on loan? Why not try and get a winger and go to 442. He cannot keep going like this, the same players and system. The opposition know exactly what we are going to do.

If you don't think we played well in the first 10 minutes (particuarly the first half) then I am extremely worried what an earth you expect at Tranmere Rovers, a skint club in League One.

We could have been 1 up had Enoch put his head up, Bmouth had barely troubled us, in fact the ball had rarely been near our goal.

Les has said post match today he is considering changing the formation. We were better second half but we've no natural wingers. And you can't blame it on the formation all the time, you were their last Saturday, and you can't criticise that performance away at a team that will be up their at the end of the season, a team that've spent a hell of a lot of money, a team that have players who've just dropped from the Premier League, and a team that our best player (arguably) 2 seasons ago can only just get onto the bench.

Thats what we're dealing with here, we're a million light years behind everyone in terms of finance and if we stay up come May our objective is achieved. From what I've seen in spells against Oldham and then at Walsall, Huddersfield, and a little bit today I believe we can do better than last year, the team is stronger, though losing ITM will be a massive blow despite how poor I thought he was today.

I agree Mikey that last week was very encouraging, maybe that is why I didn't really see today coming. I know we are behind everyone in terms of finance, but that still doesen't excuse what I saw today.

Some players can't even control a football, or do the most routine things. Give Wood for example, I can't believe he is a pro footballer, he was so bad it was just unreal.

We played alright in the first 10 minutes in terms of possession but without creating anything. I mean football is about scoring goals and winning games. Yes we can battle and defend for our lives and pick up the odd point like last week, but when the onus is on us to attack we are knackered.

Dagenham is already a really big game in my eyes.

But with such a young team and so many new players, a team who've just came together (as you pointed out many signed late pre-season) this squad is gonna take a while to gel. But when it gel's I think it could be something special (no we're not going to win the league but we will be better than last season IMO and we have a few youngers who can make the club a few £££, which is our primary ambition in todays climate: to succeed - yes it's not nice but we're a business..)

Wood had a bad game, but he impressed every other game this season and the friendlies I seen him play. He, with Goodison had Robert Earnshaw and Dexter Blackstock in his pocket (yes its a friendly but they are still good players..) At the age of 19 and no first team experience, he just needs game and he'll improve, he has ability he just needs to develop, he is going to make mistakes but he is going to improve and I think he'll be a good player for us, not outstanding but better than Broomes. Their are a few others in that position too - Fraughan, McGurk (if he signs) and then theirs Blanchard and Showunmi who will take time to settle in and get their fitness properly but both, in particular Blanchard have shown glimpses of a good footballer.

It's only August, Dagenham away won't define our season. I expect that we're gonna be bottom 4 for the first month or so but after that I'm sure we will kick on as the team learns to play with each other and, most importantly we become more experienced (Only five of our players, Goodison, McLaren, Welsh, ITM, Enoch, are over the age of 20 aren't they?)

Mikey you are saying the first ten minutes as us being good as though its some sort of big deal and we created chances sadly we didnt.

Yes we started brightly but what did we create during this time nothing and it took one simple look ball to expose us.At times it was embarrasing if we lost by 5 or 6 we really couldnt have any complaints.

This for me was a really dark day yes its early days but when i look at our squad i dont see where our goals will coe from and if we defend like we did today id doesnt bode well.

The point I was getting is the squad is so young, inexperienced and their heads went from the early goal, it could have been such a different game had Enoch played ITM in to put us 1 up after 2 minutes. We played some good football in the first 10 minutes.

Put simply; if we had replicated the first 10 minutes over 90 minutes, and not lost our heads after 1 goal we probably wouldn't be talking about a 3-0 defeat right now.

Looking at our squad Mikey do you really think we will score enough gols to be something special or even stay up?

Wood was totally clueless today he was slow poor in the air and is far too weak yes he may have looked good in a preseason friendly against forest but so what. I know hes only 19 and no played a league game till he signed for us but as against oldham we was found lacking very badly and sadly we wasnt the only one.

I am hoping after a few games the team will settle down but when i look at the squad i fear the worst.

I didn't go today but I'm not impressed by what I'm reading about today's performance.

I have to say that it does sound a bit like dejavu with last season. The first game of the season is the only one I've seen but that was bad enough to be honest.

My biggest problem i have with the squad is that we bought players in to play the 433 formation and it's not working even at this early stage. I don't think we have the quality of players to play the formation were playing and I think it needs a serious rethink.

Also I have to question the quality of the players we have brought in compared with the players we have let go. I understand we have financial constraints but I would say only Shuker was on a high wage. I knew as soon as we bought Enoch exactly the type of football we would play and it dissapoints me that we resort to that.

For me the blame should be with Les as it was with Barnes last season. I didn't think the squad Barnes assembled last year was good enough and to be honest, I don't think Les has improved it one bit.

Regardless of anything though, the buck stops with Mr Johnson. He got rid of Ronnie which sparked this downward spiral and it is his insistance on getting back his investment that is holding this club back. Until he leaves we are going nowhere and to be honest, as a season ticket holder and fan for 20 odd years, it's beginning to turn me away from the club that I love.

Theirs a difference between staying up and doing something special. I don't think we'll do anything special, we are the poorest team (as in poorest financially) in the division and we can't afford the players to do something special.

Sadly, our aim is to finish 20th at a minimum, that is the level of our finances and finances dictate football now (whether we like it or not..)

I think we're stronger than last year yes, and I think the midfield will chip in with more goals than last year (with Labadie.)

That is of course presuming Ian Thomas-Moore stays and continues his proffesional performances.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us add another striker on loan (when Browns month is up), and a midfielder.

Tranmeres youth do need more time, but it's all experience. People werre banging on about experienced players, but truth is at this level, the experience coupled with quality will not come, when your budget is limited.

I mean Trundle wanted £2,000 and Macken £1,500. Les couldn't give them that, so imagine what that means in terms of paying part of Andy Robinsons wages. Probably about 15% if that.

Players like Hume back on loan and maybe Kaye, if his bench warming duties last week continue, but Tranmere also made big mistakes in the case of Dagnall and Curren, and not giving Shuker reasons to play, by using 4-3-3.

He could try 4-4-2, but the squad isn't geared up for that, unless he tries Cathalina at right back and Bakayogo at Left Back, then perhaps tries Darvill and Cresswell on the wide areas.

The other option as I mentioned a while back is the 4-3-1-2, playing someone like Showunimi in the hole, as an attacking midfielder / striker option. Might give him a little more space to run at people, dropping back 5 or 10 yards, but there's not much else you can do except either using Darville and Cresswell as Wing Backs, or playing a tight 3 at the back and slotting in Darville and Creasswell into a 5 midfield.

In which case I'd think Cresswell, Mclaren, Welsh, Labadie, Darville, with Taylor in for McClaren when he's back and Blanchard at the back in defense.

Right now though playing wide options when you've not got standard wide players, could be tricky, as you're relying on pace from the Full Backs, to create some more wide play.

Slagging off the young players is not the answer, as realistically any young player could underperform or sometimes look under pressure, in a team with 8-10 over 25's anyway.

It is not Les's fault entirely, it's the fact that Tranemre have little money. If that front 3 included Macken and Trundle, I'm sure Tranmere would be pretty solid going forward and more confident.

He still hasn't finished getting players either. He's looking for another 2-3, so it would be prudent to see what he does in that regard.

Though I do wonder about the 4-4-2. I mean last season he beat Yeovil, got a draw at Charlton and could have shaded a win, then lost to Oldham.

4 in 9 is about the average he had all season. Around 40%, plus in the Swindon 4-1 defeat, he brought on Shuker, switched to 4-4-2 and in around 30 minutes, the scoreline was 1-1, as opposed to 3-0 for the first 60 minutes.

So it does make me wonder about 4-4-2 as an option, but short of having recognised wide players, the other possible option is put Blanchard behind the middle in a holding / Anchorman role, keep Welsh and Labadie in the centre and someone like McClaren in the front as part of a diamond.

He shouldn't be in this situation, he should have returned to being physio after Stockport. Les isn't a manager, he's a great physio who can have a laugh but he's not a manager. I just hope he bows out before it gets ugly.

So he can't win really then, people want 4-4-2 and we have no wingers what else is he meant to do?

Just because thats who was their doesn't mean it wasn't 4-4-2, Brown and Gornell did well chasing back, perhaps neither have the greatest cross but the team was definitely set up in two banks of four. The team was set up in two banks of four though second half.

I actually thought Brown was good their, certainly better than some of the "proper wingers" we've had. He did more than Shuker would of in his final season. I agree with you though, Brown should of been up front..

Well that's down to Les isn't it, he chose a squad with no wide players.

They did as you point out play 442 second half but with 2 strikers in midfield. I don't necessarily think the 451 we play (when you see enoch utterly stranded - calling it 433 is laughable) is the worst formation in the world its just he's playing players badly out of position. Gornell and ITM are playing as wide midfielders so play wide midfielders in those positons.

Re- your comment about Wood being impressive in the other games. He certainly was not impressive in the slightest against Oldham. I've only seen the 2 home games but in both of those he looks way way out of his depth.

How is 4-3-3 the best formation when we have 3 senior strikers and 3 central midfielders, it's an absolute joke. We don't have wingers and that's Les' fault for wasting money on the likes of Darville and Wood.

You've answered your own question their SWA.

As for 3 CM's in our squad? McLaren, Welsh, Labadie, Ash Taylor, Max Blanchard, Ryan Fraughan, Alan Mahon. 7 players their capable of playing central midfield.

And strikers? 3 of our own, 1 on loan and we've offered two more contracts.

Of those 7 CM's, 2 can play LW (Fraughan and Mahon) but what we're missing is someone who can play RW (and with our budget he could do with being versatile enough to play RW in 4-4-2 and RF in 4-3-3)

Its not 4-3-3 and never has been. We are just picking strikers in midfield.

4-4-3, 4-4-2,10-1 the fact of the matter is the performance was shocking. The vast majority of clubs start the season with an influx of new players who, it is hoped, will improve on the previous season. Much is made of team spirit which is crucial in producing a fluent team performance. Tranmere appears to be a group of individuals who are not particularly good, playing as if they haven't got a clue as to what to do with the ball in the unfortunate event that it should land at their feet! The downward spiral looks likely to continue with diminishing support. It is horrible but the continuing decline looks inevitable.

I agree with you SWA. Yes Les is a good man, used to make a few jokes in the programme etc. But a manager? Not a chance. I understand it is a difficult job for anyone with the financial constraints, but I still feel a proper manager, someone who has played the game, maybe a Jim Gannon, would be a far better option.

I just don't feel he commands respect from the players. I mean, he admits he doesen't coach, he just tells the coaches what he wants and they do it on the training pitch. He clearly does not understand tactics or anything like that. If we concede the first goal that is it, plan A hasn't worked so game over. The whole set up at the club at the moment stinks to be honest, I am starting to question my desicion to get a season ticket.

Ricci. I want you to know you are not alone in your frustrations and I find the way some people speak to you on the site completely hypocritical, especially as they are so sensitive under pressure.
Anyway.
1. Everyone I spoke to with a brain could see the team were hugely inconsistent under Les
2. Everyone could see not signing a striker was criminal
3. Les's signings show no creativity and imagination
However like you also said Ricci:
1. Les is a good guy
2. Les kept us up which is a great achievment but that doesn't make him a football manager. He got people playing for the shirt and got some outstanding performances; but he never built a team that would play football consistently.
The Chairman needs to understand if he wants the club to progress we need a 'proper' manager. At least under Ronnie'Hoof'Moore; the team knew what they were doing and had an identity. My view is Les doesn't have a footballing philosophy and therefore could never communicate this to the players no matter how long he has.
He's not been there 3 games; he has had 1/2 season.....it's long enough to judge and my view is OUT!!!!
Not in a disrespectful way.....he should be a permanent number 2 as he can communicate his love for the club to the players and that is important; but he is no driver.
end of rant.

Ash Taylor, Max Blanchard, Ryan Fraughan, Alan Mahon - there not central midfielders.

Taylor and Blanchard are centre backs.

Fraughan and Mahon are left wingers.

As for the strikers we have ITM and Showoddywoddy plus Gornell who's useless - he doesn't have any pace, McGurk who didn't look very good when he came on - he scored a goal for the reserves but that's the reserves! And Adkins is just a fast non league player.

Les has assembled a woefully inadequte squad, furthermore his persistence with playing the useless Wood over Blanchard highlights his incompetence. He did a great job keeping us up, but he should have returned to been physio then. He doesn't have the contacts to find decent players or the managerial ability to change teams around - i.e. play a 4-4-2 with 4 defenders, 4 midfielders and 2 strikers.

Les will be gone by the end of November if he doesn't sort out this sinking ship quickly.

I'd like to see Paul Jewell with Les as his No2.
I feel if Jewell's paid a good salary he would take the challenge on. Good managers have shown that even with limited budgets they can demonstrate their skills in this division i.e. Jackett @ Millwall.
Who would you replace Les with Bigmart?

Paul Jewell will not come to tranmere i would think due to a variety of reasons 1 being he wouldnt be on a good wage 2 our playing budget is so small.

Personally for now i think we should stick with Les

Bigmart I know what your saying with our budget that a manager of pedigree will not come to tranmere.
However for me at our level the manager is where it is most cost effective to make investments that will have huge impact on the team. We all know players are on a fortune therefore it is not practical for us to buy considerably more technically gifted players.
Therefore the most sensible change is to employ a profficient manager, without that we are going to go round in circles on an annual basis.
So if I was the chairman I would pay Jewell £150-200k a year and we will get that back in ground receipts through better football, cup runs and a higher league placement very swiftly.
It's not a case of whether this can be done (we don't have the money); it's a case of IT HAS TO BE DONE. If PJ cannot even afford to employ a manager he has no business running a football club; I don't care what has gone on before if he can't employ a manager the man doesn't have the resources to run the club and needs to admit it and let us move forward.

With regards to sticking with Les, I am a fair guy and am open minded about Les yet pessimistic. I would give Les till Xmas and reevaluate the situation then after giving the guy a fair chance.
However like I've always said I wouldn't have appointed him in the first place as my suspicion is he doesn't have the tools. However I'd love to be proved wrong as I think he's a top man.
PS. Les's energy & enthusiasm was what kept us up last year and I would never underplay what he did. If you're reading this Les I wish you all the best............

are you all completely thick!!!!!! paul jewell??????? we have no money for his wages/ no money for him to strengthen the team do you really think he would come here or any 'proper' manager as you put it. your in cuckoo land.

the fact is the manager interviews took place last season and no one would take it/and who blames them.

i personally think that les could potentially be better than ronnie for us.

Just a question would you have nigel atkins as manager??? have to say he's done wonders at scunthorpe! But no he's a physio what can he possible no about football!!!!!!!

les know's what he wants and has just this last week finished putting a very strong coaching team in place. Ronnie and a lot of other managers don't do coaching on the training pitch they do what les does, tell the coaches what they want and they carry it out.

I was just thinking the other day about the difference between this season and the end of last season and I couldn't put my finger on why it seems to have all gone wrong for Les. Then I remembered, the difference is that the Chief, Les and Shaun were the reason we stayed up and now only one remains. It was exactly the same when Mathias was here, great season just outside the play offs when David Kelly was his assistant, as soon as he left, it all went downhill.

It's all early days and I hope we can turn it around, we just can't afford another atrocious start because we know how difficult it was to recover from last season!!

That is spot on Matt34.

Lots of people have disagreed recently which is the beauty of the site and the Admins have even disagreed with each other as me and Matt did earlier over playing Wood at centre-back.

The difference is that some argue back without personal blasts and just choose to get on with it.

I'm sure most on here will say they haven't had a post deleted because they disagree with what the Admins think.

Yes. In my humble opinion, good running of forums happens in part, by recognising the difference between disagreement and personal clashes.

Things like "I'm sorry I must disagree", or "I must politely disagree", or "I couldn't disagree more in fairness" etc etc, are all perfectly fine, but "you're a blurt who knows nothing", or "get your head out your bum you dumb shmuck", aren't really good exchanges and contribute nothing, except to alientate future users and possibly exisiting users.

This would then just cause the potential decline, stagnation or at least stunted growth of a forum, depending on the ratio of users in, versus users out.

Common sense dicatates if you don't like a site don't use it, unless you have absoluitely no choice, I.E. it's part of a working day, or it's the only way to use or buy a specific product or service online.

I don't believe I have Deadly!
I don't always toe the club line.
I believe that the way our club is run is detremental to all our spporters, you don't!
Thats what Forums are for, discussion.
You say give Les, the chance to build a future for this club!
I said don't!
We will see who is right!
I believed that Ms Rogers was the worst thing to happen to this club.
You believe she did a good job steadying the ship and kept us in business.
I informed you last season about ITM.
You didn't believe me.
I'm not one for scoring points against one another on here, I just wish, that supporters would not slag each other off for having a different viewpoint.
Football is always about opinions, this is a great site, lets not abuse the right to openly debate our football club that we all support.
