Rovers set to land City 'keeper

Tranmere Rovers look to secure their first signing since appointing Les Parry as their permanent manager
Total Tranmere can reveal that Tranmere Rovers look set to make their first signing since manager Les Parry signed a new one-year contract as they look to secure the services of Manchester City goalkeeper Gunnar Nielsen.
Hailing from the Faroe Islands, Nielson, 24, made his Premier League debut in April, coming on as a substitute for City against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in a 0-0 draw, making him the only player from the Faroe Islands to play in the Premier League.
The goalkeeper joined City from Blackburn in July 2009, having failed to make any appearances for the Ewood Park side.
Whilst at Ewood Park, Nielsen also had two loan spells away with the club, at Motherwell in 2008, when he also failed to make an appearance, and at Wrexham last season, for whom he made five appearances.
Nielsen has won two international caps for the Faroe Islands, making his debut in 2009, having represented the nation's Under 21's side on several occasions.
The goalkeeper is expected to sign for Tranmere this week, though it is not yet clear whether he will be signing permenantly or on loan. He will join 18-year old Joe Collister as the club's first team goalkeepers.

I just can't understand what some fans expect at the moment especially without seeing these players play first.

He may turn out to be great but even in the lower divisions clubs often try to have at least one experienced keeper to call upon.I just do not think it it ideal to have 2 totally untried players in this position

Would prefer Rovers to sign a goalkeeper to build a team around but there you go!

He went on loan to Wrexham and is not wanted by any championship club, he's fantastic.

I heard this too. He was there covering for Paddy Kenny during part of his drugs ban, and now Kenny has moved on, Sheff Utd want Simmo back on a perm deal.

However, stuart taylor has been released by man city, well worth a contract, huge fella with lots of experience.......
sorry guys, i was away in dream land there for a minute, forgot johnson owned the club, best contract he'll offer any keeper is £20 and a new pair of gloves for xmas!
