After two weeks of voting, Total Tranmere announces which Wembley hero you have decided you'd most like back at Prenton Park following on from our recent week long look back at the 2000 Worthington Cup Final....

Two and a half weeks ago, as we celebrated Tranmere's tenth anniversary of their trip to Wembley for the League Cup final, we asked you which Rovers played from that day you'd most like to see back at Prenton Park.

The team on that day of course saw Joe Murphy line up in goal, with a back four of Reuben Hazell, Dave Challinor, Clint Hill and Gareth Roberts protecting him.  Andy Parkinson, Alan Mahon, Gary Jones, Nicky Henry and Scott Taylor played in midfield, whilst David Kelly, of course the goalscorer on that day, started in attack.  Defender Steve Yates also made an appearance as a second half substitute, replacing Andy Parkinson following the sending off of Clint Hill.

Over 100 of you voted in the poll, and you decided the played you'd most like to see back at Prenton Park is defender Clint Hill, who picked up 29.5% of the votes.

Second placed in the poll was goalscorer on that day and future Tranmere assistant manager David Kelly, who was the leading scorer in the 1999/2000 Worthington Cup competition as he picked up 25.5% of the votes in an extremely tight poll, whilst in third place was left-back Gareth Roberts, now playing for Doncaster Rovers, who 18.5% of you voted for.

Those three players were well ahead of the other nine contenders in the poll, with no other player picking up more than 8% in the vote.

Interesting to see Clint won the poll. With our current goalscoring problems, I went for Dave Kelly, though I'd love Andy Parkinson back at Prenton Park and in his prime.

I think I went for Clint on the basis of the players in their current state but would love to see many of the others back in their prime.

I agree, in current state, i'd go for Hill or Roberts, but in the state of that day now, id add Kelly or Parky to the list for sure!
