Ronnie Moore was critical of Rovers' defending after the 3-1 opening day defeat to Swindon on Saturday but refused to blame the new 4-3-3 system which he has introduced for this season. Here we bring you Ronnie's post-match comments in full courtesy of Tranmere World....
"It's frustrating when you consider how pre-season has gone, how we passed the ball from the back, how we got midfielders into the game, but that just went out of the window today."
"If you defend the way we defended you're going to concede goals and won't win games. The disappointing thing for me was that three of the back four had nightmares. I felt sorry for Andy Taylor because we've been totally dominated down the middle by their two forwards."
"We were 2-0 down without them having to do too much to get there. It was like a typical away game last season and we can't have it."
"When we got the ball at the back we dropped John in it...how many bad passes did we give him today, when he was put under unnecessary pressure because we haven't looked forward."
"McNamee was allowed far too much room to pick balls up and run. We said to Antwi to go tight and stop him from doing it, but he never did. When you get three of your back four playing the way we have today, it doesn't matter what system you play."
"I don't want to keep harking back to Ian Goodison, but when he doesn't play in our back four we look a shambles. The two centre backs are better than that."
"But it's one game. Promotion and relegation won't be decided today."
