Report: PNE 3-1 Town

Town’s play-off hopes took a massive dent last night as ten man Town slumped to a 3-1 defeat by Preston.

Town were reduced to 10 men after just 10 minutes when Richard Naylor was dismissed for a foul on Brett Ormerod, the referee saw it as Naylor as the last man denying Ormerod a goal scoring chance.

Despite having one less man Town took the lead 7 minutes before half time when Jason De Vos headed in Garvan’s cross.

Sadly 8 minutes after the re-start Preston were on level terms after David Nugent powered home his first effort and 9 minutes later he poked the ball into the net to make it 2-1 to the home side.

Substitute Patrick Agyemang rounded off the scoring after 71 minutes to make it 3-1 and leave Town’s play-off hopes in a mess.
